I am a 50 year old woman who has hit a massive metabolic change and struggling to lose weight. Started walking again but can't work out how to log my steps as my watch isn't listed. Can you somehow just put in a figure. Driving me crazy trying.

You can log walking under cardio exercise. Just put in how long you walked and approximately at what pace. Your weight should already be in your profile so the calorie burn should be calculated for you. Or, if you have an iPhone you can just sync your phone and let the data come from there,0

If your watch gives you walking distance, a good way to estimate the exercise calories is this estimator:
https://exrx.net/Calculators/WalkRunMETs
Use the "net" setting in the "energy" box. It will tend to estimate fewer (but sadly more realistic) walking calories than the MFP database. You can either use the MFP walking entries to log it but override the default calories (type over them before adding), or create a custom exercise for your walking.
Keep in mind that your activity level setting on MFP includes some amount of step-type activity, whatever might be part of normal life at that activity level. For most people, the sedentary/not-very-active profile setting might assume something on the order of 3000-5000ish steps.0
