I usually work out from 7:15 to about 8 pm and i am allways starving afterwards has anyone else had this problem? I eat dinner anywhere from 6-6:30. Any recommendations on what I eat since it is sooo late in the evening?

Well you could just eat after you work out.....have a snack, if you can't make it, before you work out, and then eat your meal after you work out. You should be taking in protein and carbs within a hour of working out anyway. Just a thought.

doesn't matter if you eat late at night if you are still in a caloric deficit.

Immediately after your workout is the optimal time to eat something that is quick and easily digestible like a carb/protein replacement shake. (30g carb / 15g protein).

IN doing so, your body will absorb the carb content back into the muscles like a sponge, and the supplemental protein serves to counteract protein breakdown in the body from the workout, and reverse it to become protein synthesis for quicker recovery from the workout stress.

Whatever you use it a matter of personal choice.

    Cheers!

I can relate. We eat dinner around 6:30-7:00 and I work out afterwards. I can't eat dinner after working out because my kids are in bed by that time, and we always eat dinner as a family.

I usually eat a snack after a work out. As PP said: as long as you're within your calorie limit, it's fine.

I agree, that is what I do too. I come home, have a banana or a couple of mcvities rich tea biscuits, have my workout and then I'm so ready for my dinner after! I've tried eating before my workout but it makes me sluggish.

I found that a hard boiled egg white does the trick for me. I have a son who loves the yolks so we 'split' one or two 17/34 calories and much needed protein as I am a vegetarian.

I always eat after my night time workout. Just make sure you account and prepare for it as well as make healthy choices. :)
