At age 61, I’ve decided to count my macros. After a lifetime of not being where I want to be in the fat category, I guess I need to count calories. Clare Morrow, IFFB champ motivated me on IG. I have worked out my entire adult life and even aspired to being a bodybuilder and power lifter for some years, Now, since I’ve had a hysterectomy my tummy is a little too pooched out. Will start with breakfast today, and working out on a split routine. Any advice? Please write me back.

Hello, and welcome to the MFP Community!

I'm in your demographic (61, F, active, lost weight back in 2015-16, now maintaining). It sounds like you have a solid plan (exercise, including strength exercise, plus managing your calorie intake).

What other sorts of advice are you looking for?

The only thing I'd say is that I personally think the best strategy is to find sustainable, fairly easy changes in activity and eating patterns, and groove those in as new habits to reach a desired fitness/body-fat stage and stay there. Way too many people get super-aggressive about reaching their goals, and employ tactics that are too extreme to survive long term. Thinking long term, starting early in the process, can be useful, IMO.

    Best wishes!
