Greetings!

I'm new to the group - busy teacher and avid couch potato. I have 130 pounds to lose and a fair amount of motivational lack and "self-defeat-ism" to work through. This summer I've been successful getting out for a walk most days, and have been simply trying to include one or two vegetables with each meal. Hoping this site and community will help me up the efforts and start to make a some progress!

The good news - and it sounds like you may've figured this out: The smart investment is on the side of finding relatively easy, incremental changes in eating/movement patterns that gradually lead to a healthy weight and improved fitness. The less motivation that takes, the better, IMO. Motivation is a limited budget, for me. When I have a positive balance in my motivation account, I use it to experiment, find, and groove in new, more positive habits that can continue almost on autopilot when life gets complicated (as it will). I dunno about you, but I can't sustain "motivation" for the whole rest of my life! Easy is my jam.

If this took constant motivation, I wouldn't have gone from class 1 obese to a healthy weight, and stayed there for going on 7 years since, after around 3 previous decades of overweight/obesity. It sounds like you have a good start in a similar direction.

Wishing you excellent success, going forward!
