How many calories in one cup of overnight oatmeal - not out of the box - when you eat it the next day. The calorie counts are so different on the food data base. I have gotten somewhat addicted to it and have been following the "generic overnight oatmeal" which says it's 193 calories per cup. Just not sure. I love this stuff and would really like to know.

ok...say 1 cup of oatmeal...I usually mix about 1/2 or less unsweetened almond milk with it and maybe some brown sugar spenda...that's it.

Looked it up, as I'm impatient. Sounds yummy and healthy but very calorie laden. I think I will try it after i go grocery sopping on Thursday.

I agree with this... depends on what is in it and what size serving you have...

Alton Browns recipe has dried cranberries, figs and half and half. I would just put the recipe in to your recipes and it will figure it out.

then it would be equal to 1 cup of oatmeal cals + the 35ish cals of almond milk + the cals in brown sugar splenda
letting it sit over night doesn't change the caloric value, i would caution that if you're using a measuring cup to portion oatmeal and not weighing you're likely overestimating things

Yes I agree with other posts about not knowing what "overnight oatmeal" means, just weigh your portion with the label on the package. I buy Quaker Oats oatmeal and it is pretty clear. Then, just add in whatever you add in. Oatmeal is an absolutely wonderful cereal, but it has carbs so depending on what diet you are on - really matters. Oatmeal is great for fiber, and heard that it reduces cholesteral, and good for your heart. I love oatmeal with brown sugar and vanilla rice milk - just me - I just count the calories and add it into my day.

So do you cook it or not? Seems like it would be better uncooked then just warmed up in the morning.

nope i don't don't cook or heat it up when i make it. i usually go about 1 cup oats, 1 cup greek yogurt, 1 cup almond milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder. sometimes i'll add pumpkin to it or pb or something like that

I think I will try it both ways, cooked and uncooked to see which I prefer. I have never heard of this recipe. I'm pretty excited to try it. Thanks everybody!

Just set up a recipe here on MFP for yourself - that way you get the right ingredients that you are using - and the beauty is that you can then select it everytime you eat the meal - and you know the calories are correct

Thanks for the input everyone...I love this stuff sooo much. It tastes like a really good bread pudding sort of thing. I have even put some cool whip on it. Yea...I know.

I think I will try weighing it though, it just seems like 150 cal for half a cup is a lot...half a cup isn't all that much when eating it.
