My last start over

Hello. I am at the heaviest weight I've ever been. I've been overweight as long as I can remember. I am tired of always starting over and being unhealthy. I am new to MyFitnessPal and wanted to get involved in the virtual community. I'm 35 years old and got diagnosed with heart disease (cardiomyopathy) at 20 years old. Nothing to do with lifestyle choices and all to do with just bad luck. We are starting baby stuff next year and I need to be MUCH healthier all around before we can seriously consider it. There's so much on the line and I can't fail this time. Any support and/or advice is very much appreciated. Looking forward to this journey, even though I'm scared.

    Hello, and welcome!

Take heart, you can do this. Patience and persistence are your best friends: You don't necessarily need to be perfect every day, and especially don't need to be perfect from day one . . . but by making sustainable positive changes in habits, persistently (when you have the willpower budget for it), and sticking with that process patiently, you'll surprise yourself with what you can achieve. Find your own personalized, sustainable healthy habits. Just don't stop working at it.

IMO, this thread is the single best on-ramp to using MFP successfully:

Don't let that joke-y clickbait title put you off: It's solid, common-sense information about how to get started with MFP.

    I'm cheering for you!

You can do this! I have started over many times myself and I'm determined to make this my last start over time. I justed started over August 1st, lost 6.8 lbs and I have found that taking it one day at a time and being consistent is key for me. I try not to look too far ahead or beat myself up if I don't lose fast. I made small changes each week and that has helped form habits that are now something I just do without thinking about it. I wish you well and good luck on your journey.
