Pre-diabetic

Is there a way to set goals based on being prediabetic as well as calories and nutrition?

I’m unsure, but I would like to know as well. My A1C was prediabetic by .1, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, I know it's generic advice but first and foremost always follow the advice of your healthcare provider.

I'm not a doctor or medical professional.

What particular goals would you like to set?

I believe I've read that pre-diabetes can be reversed with weight loss, healthy eating and a more active (less sedentary) lifestyle.

For the weight loss side of things, the usual rules will apply - more calories expended than consumed. For raw weight loss, the common wisdom tends to be that all calories are equal, and a calorie deficit is all that matters regardless of what you're actually eating.

However, actual dietary guidelines may be different with pre-diabetes, and I don't know how sugar will factor into this - your healthcare provider may suggest a certain diet that works best.

    I suggest the following:

    - Find out from a professional if there are any particular dietary restrictions you need to implement.
    - Find out how much weight is a safe and healthy amount to lose given your condition.

Then use MFP to achieve these ends. You can log your calories obviously, but you can also keep an eye on your macros (carbs, protein, fat) etc using the app.
