Night hiking in Paradise

A good friend and I went down to Rainier yesterday. We arrived at Paradise in a white out in mid afternoon; the forecast predicted fog in the morning burning off before lunch leaving bring sunshine the rest of the day. Instead, we got proverbial pea soup. We hiked a few miles up the unrelentingly steep moraines until the clouds pulled back for a second, revealing a jaw dropping view, then came back in and blotted out the sun again. There wasn't much to do except find a nice place to wait and hope. Tahoma delivered in spades. We left with the moon and hiked out with head lamps and flashlights.

Here's my buddy exploring a moraine:

We went a little further and there was no more grass so we came back here and hoped it would be above the clouds by night fall.

Some hikers packing up to leave:

Finally, the reason I dragged 10 pounds of camera gear up and down the mountain arrived.

I don't sell them, but I'm going to have to have some of these for myself. I'm sure we can get the printer to make them available to you. Send a PM and we'll figure it out. 🙂

I like both of the ones with the three volcanoes! I actually have that iconic image taken of them above the clouds in a large frame. Mine is taken in the daylight though, and taken before it was possible to catch the Milky Way with the newer technology. That's just an unbelievable image, especially the top one. Thank you - I will PM you!
