So I went like 2.5 months ago to this dietitian which is sooooo famous noww!! tons of people have lost so much with her!

Anyway, she gave me below diet, so I want you to tell me what you think about it!

My weight: 78kg
Goal weight as per the nutritionist: 65kg (but then I can go down more if I want)
Personal goal 60kg

Breakfast - 8:30am
1 nature valley bar
OR
1 cup skimmed milk + 3/4 cup fitness cereal

Snack 1 - 10:30
1 fruit (there is a list I can select from)
1 cup green tea (Im not drinking this because green tea makes me nauseous? Does anyone feel this?)

Snack 2: 1pm
2 slices of brown bread (I have other options to exchange)
2 cubes of light spreadable cheese
2 cucumbers or 2 carrots or 1 tomato

Lunch - 4pm
ALWAYS have 1 med sized plate of salad (there is a list of veggies) and 1tsp of olive oil
Here she gave me options like veggie stew where I can have 2 serving spoons or rice and 2 serving spoons of veggie stew with 150gr chicken or beef
OR
1 serving spoon of rice with 1.5 serving spoons of bean stew or lentil stew
OR
2 spoons of rice with 2 spoons of chicken of veggie stew
OR
3 spoons of bulghur and vermicelli dish (this is a personal dish we make back home) + 2 cups of yogurt

if we go out she told me I can have either:
1. 6 pieces of chicken kebab with 3 spoons hummus and slice of bread
2. 1 skewer of kofta (this is an arabic grilled meat type) with 4tbs of eggplant dip and slice of bread
3. cesar salad with 3 toasts + 1 cup corn + 150gr chicken + 5tbsp dressing

Snack at 6:30
1 fruit

Snack 8:30
1 flavored yogurt 0%fat

She tells me to cook with very little canola or olive oil. ONLY
No butter, corn oil, ghee, nothing. no chicken/beef stock. Use very little salt.
Drink min 3.5L of water per day.
No drinking while eating. last water drink 30min prior meal and next drink 2 hours after meal.
Diet coke which I love I can have 1 can per WEEK!
I love my coffee. So she allowed me to have 1 cup coffee with 1tsp of fat free coffee mate and my splenda.

Exercise: min 40min walking 6 times a week. - Here Im doing the 30 day shred which is very hard and its good. Ill walk when I have time too!

She expects me to lose 6kg the first month.. I dont know!!!

What do you think????????? Thanks !!

I've heard drinking while eating makes it harder to digest or something, but I think many say it adds to feeling of fullness. Can't remember, so apologies if that's bollocks!

The green tea I'm currently drinking does make me feel a bit quesy some days but haven't experienced it previously so it might just be the particular brand.

The types of foods sound good to me. Vegetables, fruits, healthy carbs, olive oil, green tea (which I love), lean proteins. I'm not sure about the amounts. I'd have to see it all calculated out to know if it would work. The exercise sounds good for a beginner, too. Good luck! :drinker:
  • Yikes! I don't think I could stick to a diet like that. Even the times you eat and drink are structured? I would fail for sure. But if you are motivated enough, maybe it will work for you. Good luck.
  • looks great... Good luck...

On the no drinking while eating - the water is said to dilute your gastric juices and it then takes longer for you food to digest.

    My 0.02 cents:

Breakfast: not filling enough... Fitness cereal/nature valley bar sound like simple carbs to me! Maybe you wouldn't need 2 snacks afterwards if you ate something more satisfying (proteins and complex carbs)

Eating times: Was it a special request from you? I'd stick to a more "normal" schedule if this was not. Eating at the same time as others avoid awkward situations!

    Dinner: No dinner! Why?

Also, you don't really need to drink 3.5l water per day unless you live somewhere very hot or do a lot of exercise! 2l is well enough!

I thought drinking water with food was to reduce how much you can eat so you don't eat as large portions. surely if it takes longer to digest your burning more calories in the digestion process too?
  • No way could i do that! Id be starving! Id last maybe a week?

Doesn't seem like enough food to me. Just saying. I am just plain MEAN if I don't eat. I hope it works for you.

doesn't sound like a lot of food - how many calories does that add up to?

Are the foods you are allowed when you go out (kofta etc) the types of things you are allowed for dinner, and would you normally be allowed dinner if you don't go out?

Other than there not being a lot there (and boy would I be irritable if that's all I got for breakfast!!!) the basic make ups of the meals sounds pretty healthy.

with regards to the green tea - many people find it is bitter, well this is because you should never use boiling water to make green tea as it burns the leaves and turns them bitter. Allow the water to cool down first (to about 70 degrees C) and then pour it on the tea. You will find it has a much more delicate flavour and is more palatable.

Not enough food and too strict. Not sustainable. You need to find an eating style that will work long term -- life long term.

This sounds like the sort of thing that puts the average joe off of trying to lose weight, thinking they have to eat like that.

No way in hell that would be sustainable for me.

But, i guess for you it is a "diet" and not a lifestyle change, so maybe it'll work for you. I can't see you having much fun with it though :P

I think if you went to her 2 and a half months ago, and you're still not convinced, that tells you all you really need to know.
