Stick with both on alternating days like you are already doing.

The cardio will build your VO2 max, leading more stamina and endurance. This pays off with being able to hit more intense workouts on weight training days. Oh yeah. Someone mentioned something about it burning calories too. Change up your activities to keep it interesting.

The weight training (go heavy) conditions your muscles and makes you stronger. Leading to more intense work, thus burning more calories. The existing muscle becomes more active biologically even at rest when regularly used versus flacid and atrophied like the majority of people. Any new muscle created (which is achieved by heavy lifting) compounds the benefits.

    Enjoy.
  • So far medical studies prove only one thing, either is good for your heart and extends you life. You can do either or both and you will be healthier. The fact is you do not need to do cardio if you have a solid strength programming. On the other hand I would not recommend anyone do only cardio as you would be doing little to nothing for your strength and bone mass.

You should do whichever you like and keeps you moving. My only caveat would be it is not a smart choice to do only cardio, particularly if you are over 30.
  • Though people say that I have just the average weight I still believe that I'm a little over the standard so I regularly do cardiovascular exercises to keep my body physically fit as it also helps burn calories much faster. I focus on maintaining and trimming down my waist and belly. I found something listing the best cardio for weight loss and I'm currently onto it.
