BMI vs body fat

I have only been on here a month, so I don't actually know anything. I am a middle-aged mum.

My BMI is ok, in the bottom third of the range. My flash new scales, though, say that my body fat is 25%. which sounds really bad!

I eat about 3/4 healthy, 1/4 bad. I am controlling my weight via restricted calories only. Exercise-wise, I play a few games of tennis a week and that's it.

Is this skinny fat? Should I be worried about my fitness and exercising more, or am I fine?

I feel fine, but the 25% sounds bad.

Have a look at this :-)

Looks as if you are in the "optimal" range - so not too shabby :-)

Us girlies have a higher sounding body fat due to our boobies!!! 25% sounds good. Maybe you just need to look at toning rather than weight loss.
  • 25% sounds perfectly fine to me. Remember, you do need *some* fat in your body to stay healthy!!

Thank you for your responses to a newbie, everyone.

I read a few things on here about 18% body fat and was wondering. I am not an athlete or a gym baby and so I was wondering.
