I am a new member (July 25) and I continue to look for members who can help with muscle gain. I am sneaking up on 65 and that bothers/cancels some members who might otherwise comment - but don't let it! My selfie pics are me on my Yamaha R6 and one I took on arm day. I am happy to consider the expertise of others. I use InBodyH20 to measure skeletal muscle and percent body fat which my current goal is under 14% and current measurement is 15.2%. I don't lift heavy any more because to does take forever to repair from injury. I do believe in lifting to failure. I try to lift 5 days a week.

@drtradecraft good for you. I’ll be 71 next month. I dropped 60 lbs and got back into lifting 3 years ago when I retired. I’m nowhere near your body fat, but I’m in better shape than I was 10 years ago.

Great results and thanks for sharing. I am was in better shape 5 years ago when I was lifting heavy (heavy for me) but I tweaked my right elbow on the last DB bench press. I took roughly 9 months to fully recover. That cost me a lot so I have been trying a different approach. No matter what I am pushing/pulling, I do a warm up rep to ignite the muscle and then I follow this with three sets and I always go to failure. I have found this beneficial and I will continue with this until I find something better. I am also experimenting with fasting in order to reduce the number of insulin triggers that occur when we eat. Finally, I enjoy a 2.5 mile walk everyday and it allows me to decompress. My Kryptonite is the enjoyment I get from a nightly Bourbon drink...or two.

I'm sorry you've experienced that . . . I haven't found the Community unsupportive personally, though there are some things that attract less comment just because fewer people are interested. Maybe it's different because I'm female (though 66 y/o)? No way to know, I guess.

Mass gain and bodybuilding do seem to be lower traffic topics here on MFP - I think other forums may be more focused on that, dunno.

    Good morning
I just turned 68 and have been lifting for 40 years. I started at the original powerhouse in Detroit (right in the heart of the porno district). What a place to start. I certainly don't lift as heavy as I used to but I train pretty intense. 3 days of weights one day of cardio (4-6 miles on treadmill) then repeat. I don't take any days off. I train at 4:00 AM before work. I don't think I can build a lot of muscle at my age. I try and train for balance, good definition, visible 6 pack, 16 inch arms with #150lb body weight. Trying for 160 and still keep the 6 pack. Thinking about trying 3 months of Turkesterone to see if I get any lean muscle size. Toying with the idea of competing. Figure at my age I could do fairly well.

Feel free to add me as well, it’d be great to keep each other inspired. I just finished a cut and have started a 3-4 month bulk. The gym is no issue but this nutrition puzzle can be daunting at times. I’m based in New Zealand.

It seems like this part of the forums is a bit dead compared to other areas. I just realized how old some of these posts are, but in any case, feel free to add me. I’m currently in the cutting phase while trying to maintain muscle mass. So far so good, I think. I could use a few more friends who are enthusiastic about hitting them weights!
