Hello ladies! (and gents
)
I was wondering if any of you have or are using Loestrin (Microgestin) and stopped getting your period...
I have PCOS and I have been on and off BC for the last few years. The doctors normally put me on it to GET a period. I had been off of it since last February and I started getting my period on a regular basis as of November 2010. In January I found out that I had a cyst on my right ovary that ruptured and that the discomfort I was feeling would go away once the body adsorbed the remaining fluid. Well, the discomfort didn't go away and last month I was told I had a few more cyst and beginning of endometriosis (sp?) so they put me back on the pill, this time on Loestrin, previously Ortho-Triciclen Lo, and I started spotting after my second week on it....but I have yet to get my period. This would be my no pill week, when I would normally get my period...and nothing, just some spotting here and there....
So I am wondering if anyone has had the same or similar issue with this or any other pill or if maybe my body is getting used to the new drug in my body plus my new eating and working habits...I started the pill and MFP on the same day-8/29/2011....I have already lost 9lbs....
Can anyone relate?
thanks!

I was on it in 2009. I had my period for a month straight! I had to stop taking it! I have PCOS, try the Nuva Ring. I love it!0

Ive Used this pill since i was 14 (24 now) due to really heavy periods and ive never missed a period on it.0

I was on Loestrin 24 FE for a while and didn't get my period. I LOVED it, but it got to be too expensive for me to continue using it.0

I am currently on it and I don't really get a period and sometimes not at all. My GYN says thats normal and not to worry. I actually don't mind not really getting one, shocker I know
. Talk to ypur Dr. but I wouldn't really worry too much about it. 0 -
I'm currently on it now. When I first started I don't think I had a period. Now my periods are there just very little.0

I was on Loestrin 24 and I stopped getting my period after a couple months of being on it! I asked my doc, and she said it was very common for that type of birth control to do that. :-)0

I have taken it for years. Just last year my periods started coming only every 3mos (after a lifetime of regular periods). OB said this was a change in my body and to take them straight through and only have 1 period every 3mos now.
Could be your body adjusting I would double check with your Doc.0 -
Hey - dont know if this is the same or close enough, but i just started LoLoestrin (I THINK a lower estrogen version of Loestrin)...this is my 5th month on it and so far i am still getting my periods. I was told i'd have spotting and have not. they ARE however MUCH lighter than they used to be...I have PCOS as well, and was put on this one, because i get mirgaines and seem to get them worse when i get my period - the OBGYN's thinking being that the stopping of the hormone is aggrivating them
I have been on a few different pills and never didn't get it - i have gotten twice in a month several times though...i woudl DEFINETELY ask your dr, and if you are just seeing a gen prac, i'd see an OBGYN about it - just to be safe. I have had friends on various different forms of BC who stopped getting it, but i never did.
dont know if any of that helps
do they have you on metformin for the PCOS too?0 -
The P.A did say that we did not need to have a period every month. That it was normal. But since I have PCOS and have always had problems with getting one, when I get it, I feel 'normal' so to speak. Yes, I think I am one of the few that likes to have a period and not because I am worried I may be pregnant lol. But I was wondering if the lack of it was from the pill or the diet...or if anyone had similar issues. I read on a few other posts about Loestrin that people were actually losing weight since they had been on it...has this been the case with anyone? I dont expect to lose weight on the pill, I just dont want to gain any...0

The only thing I have ever been on is BC, is metformin...and I believe the other I have heard of is clomid(sp?), to help conceive? I am not looking to make babies as of yet so that may be the reason why I am not on it...if that is what they are for...0 -
Did anyone notice a difference in their weight loss when they started or stopped using Loestrin?0

Hello,
I have been on the generic version of Loestrin since February and stopped having my periods ever since...
I am also one of those people who feels better when having their periods (it needs my body function right...). I decided to stop it 2 weeks ago and still haven't have my period. I haven't had sex since May I know I am not pregnant but I just would like to have my periods again... I will wait for another few weeks and see...0
