I started MFP in March 2011 and did really well for about 3 months, then I lost motivation and stopped logging in and frankly, I lost my way. Although I continued to work out (I dropped it from 5 days a week to 2 and stopped the strength training altogether), I gained 14 pounds, Ugh!!!! So when my work decided to kick off a "Scaleback Challenge" and I decided this is it, I'm going back to MFP where I had found success.

The Challenge started one week ago and we just had our 1st weigh-in. With a lot of hard work and dedication, I lost those 14lbs my first week!!! I am more motivated then ever and want everyone to jump on board and find their own successes!

I did this in a very healthy manner, no cheating! I worked out and watched what I ate. I jumped out of my comfort zone (which we all should do from time to time) and went to a new gym to take on a new Zumba class, all by myself. I needed to add a third cardio day and I thought I would try out a new instructor on a new day but unfortunately the ladies I Zumba with couldn’t make it to that class. Instead of saying ok, whatever, I’ll just wait until our regular Tuesday class; I got off my butt and went alone! (Yeah Me) I have also added 2 days of strength training and boy does that help!!

I personally count on each of you to help keep me motivated. I love to see everyone’s success stories and even your setbacks… it reminds me that we are all in the same situation and that everyone struggles! I had set a goal for myself that my 40’s would be the best years of my life. Well, in 3 days I will be 40 and I still have the same goal! We all have excuses as to why we can’t do something, but believe me, if you just quit making excuses and do it, you will feel so much better. I used to use the excuse that I have RA and I’m always in pain… so what? Will it matter if I’m in pain while working out vs. being on the couch? I’ll hurt either way, right? Well now, I hurt less often and I feel so much better!

No More Excuses; Just Do It!!!

Motivation must also come from within. It must be a raging inferno burning at your heart to want the change bad enough that you will make the changes in your life to facilitate this.

Short term diets and short term exercise obviously don't work because you will just gain the weight back.

The question you have to ask yourself is: do you really want this bad enough?

All the external motivation in the world won't help someone who doesn't have that fire inside them. You have to light that fire and commit to it every single day.

Congrats on that amazing loss! I can't believe you lost 14 lbs. in a week!!?? How is that possible? I wish I could lose 14 lbs in a week...then I'd be almost at my goal! Haha!

Seriously though, I'm very happy for you! What a great mindset you have!

PS: I love zumba too...I just ventured into a new class a couple weeks ago...It's a little uncomfy at first, but it doesn't take long to make friends!

Cut the soda drinks and the pounds fall off! I've done 6 pounds in one week because of: 1) working out, 2) lots of water, 3) proper food, and 4) NO SODA!!! :D

afeveryear: Congratulations! KEEP IT UP!!! I have put on my mirror what my end goal is, what I started at, and how many pounds I've burned off. It keeps motivation right there in front of you every single day! The more places you put your goals the more likely you are to achieve them. Keep it up!!!

I am doing 3 days of cardio a week, 1 hour each session. 2 days of weight lifting for 45 minutes. I'm watching what I'm eating and trying to keep my salt intake low. I make sure that I am drinking plenty of water and I cut out all soda! That's it!!! Make sure that you get enough calories, otherwise you won't lose. That is all I'm doing :)

    Thanks for all the support!!!
  • Sounds great! Keep it up!
