Welcome! This is a great place to start. 😄 Tracking my intake and holding myself accountable has helped me with reaching my goals. To lose weight you have to be in a calorie deficit and tracking has helped keep me there. Everyday is not perfect and logging my food honestly and not guilting myself on days I go over my calories has helped me to overcome many challenges. Currently 42 lbs down. 🥳1

I’m down 112 pounds on here, 122 from my highest recorded weight and my best tip is to get a food scale to weigh your food and log it honestly.
Log your bad days. Log your “what the heck was I thinking?” choices just as honestly as your good choices.
Gathering your data and recording it honestly will help you sort out what is working and what is not.
Be kind to yourself. Every day won’t be perfect but you’ll need to figure out what will work for you, forever.
You can absolutely do this. Just keep going and don’t give up.1 -
@nybest2010 : You can just enter your stats into the MFP profile and start counting calories by reading packages, measuring and weighing portions, and generally figuring it all out yourself. It takes some ramp up and persistence over many months, but it works! Sorry to report that losing 30lbs takes about 30 weeks-- 7.5 months. Keeping that weight off then takes the rest of your life. During you weight loss, you learn exactly what you can eat. But, you have to carry that knowledge forward if you want continued success.
Here's how you can get help, if you want it:
Start by having a checkup and speaking to your doctor, asking if your weight goal is reasonable and if they can offer any support services. The trend is that you may get one sentence and a referral to a dietician and a physical therapist, if needed for something that's interfering with you being active.
Then speak to the nutritionist/dietician, particularly if you have any particular medical conditions or dietary needs (some offer weekly group meetings). And go to the PT to address any physical issues.
Finally, engage a physical trainer of some sort. Anything from a group Pilates class to individual training. It's daunting to take control of your health and it really requires a good team. Even better if you make some friends to exercise with.
