Meal replacement shake options for ED

As I have an ED I find making choices about what to eat usually ends up with me eating too little, nothing, or having a panic attack. I want to cut out this anxiety during the day when I am at college so I can just get on with life until I can find a long-term solution to my ED. The plan is to use a shake for lunch so it will also save me the time of preparing a packed lunch every day.
But since I am allergic to cow's milk, financially limited and in the UK, it's really hard to find something appropriate. I also don't know what it important to have in a shake.
I am looking for something under 250 calories so I can still keep eating a normal breakfast and dinner. It's just as a supplement and to help me to get the necessary vitamins and minerals. I found one that looks ok, I would appreciate your opinions on if it looks good and any alternatives you know about:

Do you have Carnation Instant Breakfast? Mix that in some sort of non-dairy-milk-ish drink.

It has milk powder as the first ingredient so I can't use it. That's my problem with about 90% of meal replacement powders and all of the ready-made shakes.

Dang. I'm sorry. That was my best guess. I suppose my next suggestion would be to seek out a dietitian and therapist.

I used SlimFast canned shakes when I was transitioning into recovery. I'm not sure if they are dairy-free, but something like that would be a good option. Even if it's the powdered shake mix that you can add to soy/rice milk. They have a lot of vitamins and whatnot, so they made an adequate meal substitute.

The Carnation Instant Breakfast powders aren't half bad either.

Try Vegan sites as they don't eat dairy either:

    Hope it helps!

I have a love/hate relationship with food and find myself binging or hardly eating at all. I replace my breakfast and lunch with Usana Nutrimeal shakes either in strawberry or chocolate. They are about 240 calories and 7 grams of fat per serving. I'm also lactose intolerant and the Nutrimeal doesn't give me any adverse digestive reactions. What I like about it is that it keeps me full, while providing necessary nutrients and eliminating my carb and sugar cravings. I started out with the 5-day Reset Program and was able to lose 6 pounds that week. I am an independent distributor for Usana now and would love to give you more information if you are interested. If you like, you can visit http://melissaparker.usana.com . Regardless, I wish you the best in your battle with an ED.

I use Naturade Soy Meal Replacement (Vanilla). It's delicious and lactose free.
  • There is a brand called Genisoy that makes soy protein shake powder. I am not sure if you can get it in the UK, but it is the best soy based protien powder I have found for a resonable price. I generally mix it with soy milk for a breakfast shake since I cannot eat dairy products. I hope that helps I am not sure what is available in your area.
  • Soy milk is a good replacement, it's 99p a litre in Holland and Barrett if there's one near you, if you don't like that rice dream is lovely but I'm not sure of prices. General rule of thumb is don't look for alternative milks in supermarkets, they slap massive prices on them because they're more unusual. I've grown up in a mainly gluten and dairy free household if you'd like more ideas :)

If you can find a dairy free mix I'm sure it would be good with soy milk or rice milk or a mix of rice and coconut if you find a cheap brand.
