I see few girls showing off their "Black Swan" tattoos at my gym - you know the set of wings on their back of the shoulders. What do you think? Cool or cheesy?

It loses it's cool factor when everyone, and their dog, has one.

Those kind of tatoos are way too big and way too visible.
In a few years these girls won't want a tatoo like this and then what?

A relative of mine is totally tatooed from his wrists up to his neck and then down to his waist.
It looked Ok when he was a fit 40 something, but now 30 years later, as a 70 something, eeeeek!

I've never seen the black swan, but wing tattoos on women's shoulderblades have been common for at least a decade. My opinion on all tattoos: If you like your tattoos, then I'm cool with that.

As a 30-something who got tattoos in visible places in my teens, I can say for my own personal life, it sucks. I do wish more people would think about getting tattoos before they get them, lest they regret it later. I don't necessarily regret mine, but it does make getting dressed every day a PITA. (I have to keep them covered in my corporate job, meaning no short sleeve shirts for this tattooed lady).

I think if it holds genuine meaning for them then hey... more power to you but if it's something you picked out of a magazine because you thought it would look cool..... reality is but a few years away. lol The one in my profile pic is a tribute to my dad. My first car was a 68 Mustang we rebuilt together, will never, ever regret this one!

I always wondered what your tat meant...now I know. My son, at 16, bought his 1st car...a red Mustang. He still has it and says he will never sell it. He wants to have it show worthy by the time his 9 yr old brother goes to prom! lol

Tattoos should be a personal thing, not a fashion statement.

I have one tattoo - rather large, but in a not obvious place, so only people I want to see it will see it. (OK, girls in the gym changing room, you're the exception, 'k?)

Think very carefully before getting ink done - is this something that you firmly believe will enhance you? How will you feel in 10. 20. 30 years time? And can you give a really convincing answer to "why are you getting this done?"

(And after all that, my mother still doesn't know about my tat...)

    A

And overweight and just not into that movie anymore.

On a serious note, I find tatoos fascinating and would have one except that my interests will change, my body will change, there will be wardrobe issues and tatoos are permanent.

Plus I have an uncle chin to ankles in tatoos and piercings. He'll be 70 soon and he's overweight. Way coil in the 80's. Not so much now.

That is GREAT!!! What year is it? I wish I hadn't sold mine. I swear if I win the lotto, I am going to track it down. lol I do have a 1968 GTO now and it is my baby but it just isn't the same.

I would get a tattoo if it meant something special - like if I was in the Marine Corp or Special Forces. I think if I won a Lotto Jackpot, I would tattoo the winning #'s on my arm so to remind how lucky I am.

It's a '95. That would be so cool if you could track yours down! Maybe one of these days

eh, not really, but i dislike 99% of tattoos so i'm not a good judge! I think if you have a tattoo it should mean something to you.
