    Jillian Michales 30 day shred?
  • I haven't really stayed on the band wagon when it comes to the 30DS group you have, but when I DO the workouts, my thighs KILL. It's even hard to sit down without using my arms!

I am on Day 10 Level 1 now. I felt better on day 3 but then day 5 I started to get sore again since I was able to sink lower in the squats and use heavier weights on some of the arm stuff. The way I see it, if it is making me sore then it's gotta be working.

Try some ice on the calves and some stretches during the day. I put my toes up on a really low shelf and stretch. The calves are my sorest spot today. If it were too easy then would it be working out?
  • I'm on Level 3 - Day 9 and it's ALL worth it ! Do more stretch after the video if you can :)

I agree! I completed it last Sunday and the first 3 days of every level was the toughest. Hang in there, it gets more managable and it WORKS!
  • I quit the first time I tried it last year because of this! It was when I first started out losing weight and working out so I was SO unfit! :embarassed:

But, I did it again in Jan/Feb this year and completed the whole thing, I was determined not to let her beat me again! I still had the aches for the first few days though, it started easing off about day 4/5!

    YOU CAN DO IT!

It will get better. You can consider doing extre strechting than in the DVD it should help.

I don't mean to be rude and butt into your thread - but I was wondering if any of your JM people could explain the 3-2-1 method to me real quick? I am finishing my current workout program and looking into doing the 30 DS...
  • hang in there! Tonight is D10L1, and the soreness isn't so bad. It tends to hit me in different spots each time, but fabulous things are going on with my body shape so it's worth it!

Day 3 and 4 of the first week are the worst! Sitting down, taking the stairs was a nightmare, my tip is to just try to walk and sit down as normal as you can or it just gets worse. After day five it gets better.

I def. agree to do at the end more stretches and the ones Jillian does for longer, it will help a lot. I'm on day 15 Level 2 and really miss Level 1!

3 mins strength, 2 mins cardio, 1 min abs and repeat 3 times. Not sure if this is the answer you were looking for...
  • take a day off and let your muscles recover a bit, it helped me a lot!

I am on level 2 and I had to take the night before last off due to a sore hamstring. I recommend doing a lot more stretching at the end of the video than she does. I think she is trying to fit into a time frame, so she skips on the stretching at the end. I hold my stretches for at least 30 seconds. 5 seconds of stretching is noting.

Aug 7 I was in a size 14 and today I'm wearing a size 10...the pain is totally worth it!!!!!

    Good luck!

Great Motivation for me to complete it!

I haven't been that sore on the lower half of my body, but have been going for a walk afterwards and wearing my Chung Shi shoes (like MBT's)....I also improvise at the end with the stretches, and do extra.

I've not had any soreness (or very little) in my legs - and have done 5 days of level 1 so far.

I'm wondering if it's because I already go hiking, or because as a result of struggling badly with the arm work (even with 1.1lb weights) I'm just not putting enough into the lunges.
  • I just completed day 4, and it does get better. I had to push through the soreness, and now its almost completely gone. If the soreness doesn't go away I would recommend adding some pilates to your routine. I love doing the 10 minute solution dvds, and it has been successful in taking away the soreness from tough workouts.

I feel the same way! I am on Level 1 Day 4 and my arms and stomach have been so sore! I hope that means it's working!
