Does anyone have any good supplements/drinks, etc for muscle recovery after a tough workout? I'm loving ON's Amino Energy drink mix, but it has caffeine so I can't take it after my evening workouts

Best stuff in the world! :D
  • Chocolate milk, egg sandwich, banana & milk it doesn't really matter what it is as long as the carb : protein ratio is about 4 :1

I do 8-10 oz of Unsweetened Coconut milk, a scoop of Matrix vanilla protien. I use vanilla becasue you can add different flavors, like fruit, easier.

Accelerade is great, it's similar to Beachbody's Results & Recovery and Gatorade but it doesn't have the high cost of R&R or sodium of Gatorade but it does have the 4:1 carb/protein ratio.
I also do Platnium Hydro-Whey after strength training, it is a little costly so I only get it when it's on sale at GNC.

I use creatine taken right after my workout, it has really leaned me out and can see my abs now! Protein shakes are a must like everyone else said, gotta drink lots of water with the creatine I usually drink a gallon or more of water per day...
  • Chocolate Milk!! About a cup of low fat chocolate milk will provide about 150 calories and 7 grams of protein! And if you feel you need more I always go with natural proteins and carbs in food like greet yogurt with fruit, or trail mix! Peanut butter and a banana or apple is delish as well. Not to forget smoothies! Hummus also provides great protein. If you want to take a supplement I recommend any whey protein. It has the perfect amino acid ratio to get to your muscles fastest for recovery!
  • I've read the same. that chocolate milk is the best recovery drink you can use. it has the right amount of sugar, carbs, and protiens that your body needs to recover.

Have you tried ON's Pro Complex, tons of protein, relatively low calories, tastes good
