Hello, and welcome! If intermittent fasting (IF) helps you stick with your calorie goal, making it easier, that will be perfect.
There are many paths to weight loss - tactics people can use to be successful - but getting the calorie intake a manageable bit below calorie expenditure is the key thing. (That's true whether we count the calories or not, of course.)
I joined MFP at age 59 class 1 obese, was at a healthy weight (50+ pounds down) at 60, and have maintained a healthy weight since with MFP, now age 67. I don't IF - wouldn't suit me - but I see others here for whom it's the perfect thing.
Any generally healthful method that helps a person manage their weight relatively happily long term is pretty perfect, in my book. What works for me is simply having a calorie goal and hitting it the majority of days, while also striving to keep my nutrition good, my appetite satisfied, my energy level high, and my taste buds happy. So far, so good.
Wishing you great success!1
