Good morning! I'm so glad it's Friday.
Yesterday I managed to stay on course really well. I ate the rest of the soup I had made on Monday throughout the day and my only indulgence was a kit kat bar (because our elf brought a bunch of kit kat for "jenga").
Today I'm supposed to go to a neighbor's house for coffee at lunch time and she told me she's been making cookies so I'm going to try to keep that to just one or two. Also, I promise my family homemade pizza crust, their favorite sauce and toppings so I need to also plan around that nice yeasty dough. I do love homemade pizza though so it's hard to be mad at that request.
Lots of Christmas related activities this weekend to keep us running. Tis the season.
@sandielewis2001 I had my holiday work lunch on Wednesday and did the same. Filled the plate with green beans, salad, etc before hitting on the rest. Great job not going crazy.

Happy Sunday, ladies!
So yesterday, my sister and her boyfriend came over to help me do some work on my house for a few hours. Then, I took them out to lunch afterward.
I got a healthy enough sandwich, but I decided to get fries with it. Everything was great, but it was the first time I've been in a restaurant since I restarted my weight loss journey.
And for the rest of day, I kind of spiraled. I ate my normal dinner, but had two sodas, a bunch of cookies, and popcorn. And I wasn't even that hungry.
I know that deviating from my meal plan for the day (just the act of going to a restaurant, and especially getting fries, although the same thing probably would have happened if I'd ordered the side sald) is enough to throw me off my game and really get in my head when it comes to binge eating/over eating.
My calories wouldn't have been over for the day with my lunch out, or not by much anyway, but I still felt the day was "ruined." And I went back home that evening and just ate everything in sight.
Allowing myself small indulgences and variations from my plan is something that I logically know is absolutely fine and necessary. But the message gets lost in translation somewhere in my head.

@pdd1216 Hi, we have joined this thread at the same time, I am also waiting for a hip replacement, after a year of trying to figure out why I couldn’t walk. I am in U.K. and have no date as yet. I have just realised that sitting on my bottom all day is really not helping, so I am trying to just do more around the house and garden, I am also swimming two or three times a week, but that works because I am a strong swimmer and can mainly use my arms. My weight has pretty much stayed the same this week, but I have felt a bit more positive.
Thanks for the volume eating thread, not sure I need that. I do seem to have made the change to smaller portions and very few snacks. My appetite comes in fiercely if I snack, same with my dogs, they are crazy for food right after meals and treats, but chilled the rest of the time.
I’m feeling unwell today, with a sore throat and mouth. My lovely husband said he would buy jam, because I always want jam when I am sick. And that is true, but I hadn’t noticed until he said it. I had actually got up in the night for bread and jam!2 -

Good morning and Happy Monday.
Saturday I didn't stay on my plan. However, I was out all day with my daughter and a friend with her kids and we ended up getting caught up on the day's fun. Gyros, fries, macarons, games and laughter. Some days aren't going to go to plan but it is worth it to embrace life. For reference, we went to my daughter's basketball practice, the Christmas market that was set up in my neighborhood, the Christmas Village event at a local church (games, socks "ice" skating, smores, cocoa, pictures, petting zoo and more) and another church Christmas event (indoor "skating", cotton snowball fights, inflatables, light tunnel, free ornaments, etc). It was a LOT to do in one day but it was also a lot of fun.
On Sunday our elf brought a Kids Baking Club box with recipes, cookie cutters & food coloring for the icing. Because of that we baked a bunch of cookies yesterday. I'm going to try and only eat one or two through today but obviously this weekend had more calories that the original plan.
This week is the last week of school before the winter break so all the things happen this week. Plus next weekend is the next potluck Ladies Movie Day and also our annual cookie decorating day at our friends house (I don't need any more cookies but it's a tradition). Between the two events I know I'm not even going to try and track over the weekend so I need to try and not go too crazy and get some real exercise in this week.
@RavenStCloud At least you know that going out causes you to fall into the trap of spiraling. I’ve found that if I can identify those moments and keep them in mind when those things are coming up it’s not always as bad. Then again, I didn’t stay on plan through the weekend either so we all have lots of work to do.
@sandramarshall200 I rarely even remember we have jam in the house unless my daughter wants some. My sick food is the Chicken Noodle Soup at Chick-Fil-A. Any time I have even the tiniest sore throat or the slightest sniffle I crave that bowl of soup.

Nov SW: 260
Dec Week 1: 250
Dec Week 2: 248
This month's goals:
❄️ Swim x4 a week ✅️
❄️ Log all food✅️
❄️ Stay with calorie range❌️ = 6/7
❄️ Craft x4 a week❌️ = 0/4
Instead of trying to swim every other day, I had a really busy weekend, so I swam all four days early in the week. It really freed up the end of the week...I felt like a kid who'd gotten all their homework done on a Friday night and could party all weekend.
I went over on calories one day because of overeating after going out to a restaurant and spiraling when I got home, but at least I logged everything. @pamperedlinny Yeah, I just have to keep it in mind and relax about it. But it's like once I eat one bad thing, the floodgates have opened.
I haven't been crafting like I want to, and I definitely have the time, so I need work on that for next week.
All in all, doing pretty well. Just keep swimming!

Hello everyone,
Sounds like folks had a busy weekend. The holidays are tough to navigate but we are doing it. If you're signing on to MFP and reading boards, you haven't lost your way. At least that's how I feel!
My weekend was pretty quiet actually. It's been raining for days here and doesn't motivate me to get out and about after work. We had friends over for dinner Friday night. They are vegan so it was kind of fun to figure out what to serve. Yesterday was break in the rain so we got out and ran some errands. I hope to get a couple of more done today before rain starts back tomorrow. I just want to see some sunshine! This weekend we leave for our trip to be with family for Christmas....so stinking excited about that!
@justanotherloser007 I have never heard of volume eating. I'll have to read that more; there are times I just want to munch on something.
@sandramarshall200 I'm so sorry you are on the new hip journey as well. I don't wish it on anyone. It has taken a year for me to get the right diagnosis as well. At least I hope it's the right one and a new hip will solve the other leg pain. It has been very motivating for me to lose weight; I just want to be out of pain.
@pamperedlinny I had forgotten about the soup at Chick Fil A. It is quite tasty and can cure what ails you! Those cookies are so pretty!
Hope all have a good week. Weight is slowly creeping down. I officially weigh in tomorrow

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting in this group, but I’m happy to be here and looking forward to meeting y’all!

Back in 2020, I shot up from 180lb to 265lb (thanks miss ‘rona 🙄). From June 2021-present I’ve lost most of the covid gains, but my ultimate goal is to get back to my lowest weight of 120 (a number I haven’t seen in 5+ years lol).
I got a little…less disciplined (read: lazy 🥱) for a few months this year, so I’ve been hovering between 200-210 since the summer, but here I am jumping back on the horse and buckling down again. I recently invested in a stationary bike and plan on getting back to the gym, and I’m doing my best to get back into the habit of logging what I eat.
I know it’s a marathon, not a sprint, though, so I’ve got some shorter-term goals set for along the way:
Exercise for at least 30min 4x/week (ideally more, but let’s be honest here, it’s the holidays and it’s hectic, and I’ll take what I can get 🙃)
Log every meal each day (even when I inevitably end up eating too much at Christmas dinner lol)
Weekly weigh-in (hoping to hit <205 by the new year)
Lose 25lb by the end of May (in time for my partner’s birthday/our anniversary)
I’m so thankful I have an amazing support system in my friends, family, and my partner, and I’m excited to extend it to this group as well. Feel free to add me as an MFP friend if you feel so inclined lol
Anyway, Happy December, y’all! Let's do this!2 -
@morrinley We're glad to have you! It sounds like you've got a good plan lined up and you've already made lots of progress. Welcome!1

Right?? I am the same! So frustrating.
Indulgences? Fine; indulge and enjoy it. Deviations from the plan? Inevitable. Ups and downs? Yes, to be expected. And yet, when it happens, it's so easy to want to throw in the towel and allow yourself to spiral. What is up with this crazy disconnect??
Does anyone have any strategies that help to prevent the spiral?1 -

I am logging in a day early because I think tomorrow might be a bit crazy. As far as goals go I did very well this week. My logging has been on point, I am checking in on the boards and I got my three workouts in.
Last weekend I was donating blood and had some fun NSVs: 1. all of my stats were perfect when checked in the pre-donation check-in, iron was at a good level and BP was on the low end of normal. I used to really struggle with these every time. 2. They commented at how good my veins were, I used to have so much trouble donating because my veins were so deep and it usually took several people a couple of tries to get to them. Now my veins are not hidden under a layer of fat and the process is much easier!
This week is going to be another busy one:
I have a work luncheon for the team today and dinner out with my family tonight (we usually try to plan a meal out weekly to make sure MIL can get out of the house).
Tomorrow is date night at a restaurant that does a full 4 course meal (hopefully reasonable sized portions). I always look forward to getting dressed up for date night.
This weekend we are hosing the family holiday cookie baking extravaganza with my Mom, MIL, Sister and kiddos. We have plans to make several different cookies including boozy oatmeal raisin, walnut, candy cane, peanut butter and cathedral window bars. We also have plans to have healthier savory snacks out to cut down on cookie snacking throughout the day.
Sunday is likely going to be an outing for wine tasting if the weather is decent.
Hopefully I can keep it all together and stay at a reasonable maintenance level of calories with everything going on!2 -
Good morning all!
I have to admit I'm slipped all week so far. Between cookies in the house, my daughter asking for a date night, work stress and always slipping a bit this time of year I've been in a rough patch for the past 4 or 5 days. Not that I've been perfect in the past but it feels like I've been especially high in my calorie choices this week. Since I have leftovers from yesterday's date to eat today and we have to rush to my daughter's concert tonight I can't promise to be great today either.
That wouldn't be so bad except on Saturday is our ladies movie day.... potluck food and a double feature this time so twice as much time around all the foods and hanging with all my ladies. Sunday is my friend's annual cookie decorating day. The kids LOVE cookie day but that means as soon as we finish the cookies from last weekend we'll be bringing more home. In fact, we mostly eat cookies throughout the day on our annual cookie day. I'm almost afraid to check my blood sugar. Ugh!
I know this sounds a lot like me just giving up but mostly I'm just venting because I've found if I write it all out and share with all you wonderful ladies it helps me put it in perspective and helps reel me back in. There's an accountability in sharing.
As for the movies this month.... we're doing Love Actually and Love Hard. I do love having our monthly movie nights so much. I need that time with my closest friends to talk, catch up and just hang out. My mental health does so much better just knowing that we'll have that time together each month.... even if my diet suffers since the deal is no one is allowed to worry or count calories during that day unless it is for serious health reasons or an ongoing challenge. So far the food includes pasta salad using Christmas shaped pasta, roast beef ring (roast beef, provolone, peppers & onions in pizza dough with pizza sauce to dip in), possibly a corn & potato chowder, popcorn, Mexicali Dip with tortilla chips, veggies with ranch dip, potato chips, charcucertie board and cookie tray. That's just what I know so far and a couple ladies haven't told me what they are bringing yet. It's a LOT to say the least.
@sandielewis2001 I love your NSVs!2 -
Nov SW: 260
Dec Week 1: 250
Dec Week 2: 248
Dec Week 3: 246
This month's goals:
❄️ Swim x4 a week ❌️ =3/4
❄️ Log all food✅️
❄️ Stay with calorie range✅️
❄️ Craft x4 a week❌️ = 2/4
Managed to tweak a muscle in my arm on Day 3 of swimming, so I figured I'd rest it for the week. Still trying to fit in 7 more swim sessions before the end of the year. Hopefully, I make it to the full 15 of my self-imposed quota, that way I can reward myself with gift/prize.
Logged all my food and stayed within my calorie goal. So pretty happy with that.
Also, pulled out my sewing machine that hasn't seen the light of day in quite a few years to discover that it was stuck in reverse! Thankfully, I found a youtube video about just that and was able to take it apart, WD-40 all the necessary parts, and get it working again! Now I just have to remember how to sew. I'm starting small with pillows.

Hey all!
It's been a crazy busy month and I've not really logged much over the past week. Things got a little hard for that. Once I get to Friday I'm off work thru January 2 so I'm just going to cruise near maintenance for the next 2 weeks. If I go up a little I'm not horribly worried about it as I was about 6 lbs below my end of year goal so if I add a few it's not the end of the world. This is a life long marathon. This is not a sprint.
Sorry if I'm somewhat silent over the next 2 weeks as I'm trying to touch on all of my accounts and get anything urgent finalized this week and I'll be doing almost all family time next week.1 -
Hi all. I've finally moved home after a long wait. Fur babies are settling in well too. Have a lovely Christmas and a happy new year all!3

Checking in. I can’t always access the community stuff. Dont know why. Anyway, I’m still going. I’ve gained weight this month, for no good reason, and it is hard to keep on track when that happens. But I’m trying to just keep logging. I have been doing well with social stuff, I have been more active, done some swimming. I have a bad cold now, so taking it easy. I am hoping to not gain any more this month. I’m 2 pounds up currently. Best of luck to all of us through the holiday season.2
-
Hope everyone had a lovely holiday. Yesterday, I logged nothing and ate everything. And I definitely paid for it. When I went to bed, my stomach was NOT happy.
But all in all, I'm fine with it. My goal is still to try to hit the gym 3 or 4 times this week. And to stay away from all the treats still lingering in my house!1 -
Happy Holidays everyone!
I'm in the 300+ pound weight category. I'm reading everyone's goals and commentary (thanks for sharing). I appreciate everyone's candor! I'm looking for MFP acquaintances so feel free to send me a friend request, if you'd like.

These forms are not the most user friendly! Sorry you've had a hard time utilizing them! I think this month is going to be extremely challenging for all of us so we're just on a day by day basis of doing the best that we can. You'll make it back on target!1 -

Katherinelittle24 wrote: »Hi everyone! This is actually what I needed today to start the month, I need to keep myself accountable and to keep making goals. I have been having trouble staying motivated because lately it seems like nothings been working.
Starting weight: 475lbs (December 2020 - biggest weight)
Current weight: 315lbs - been at this weight since like December 2021, been way too long...
Goal weight: I would like to try to work on getting to 299lbs soon, and to get to 250lbs eventually
What are you trying to achieve this month? What have you already achieved this year? I'm trying to achieve a healthier eating lifestyle in which I eat more whole foods, fiber, lots of fruit and vegetables and to start logging each bite on MFP even if its not perfect. I've achieved one of my goals which was to walk 5 5ks this year, yay!
❄️How do you plan to celebrate the holidays and are there any strategies you have put/will be putting in place to help you through? My husband and I are going to be heading over to visit his family and then my family for the holidays. I am not too concerned, I do very well on maintaining proper nutrition and exercise when im over there. My plan is to drink extra water, eat more vegetables and fruit when im hungry and to continue eating every 3 hours
I almost feel like just giving up, its been hard being at the same weight for a year. It almost seems like nothing is helping even when I make changes
I'm inspired by your written starting way in your current weight! Amazing! You have worked extremely hard! 🙌.1 -
Hi! I am new here.
I came looking for information and motivation. Since I am over 200 lbs I was feeling stuck about where to start. I know all the right things to do intellectually, but then I lack motivation, lose momentum, or I simply let things get in the way because it is easier. I know I need to prioritize my weight loss and I am working on my mental health and limiting beliefs, all-or-nothing thinking, and negative self talk and self doubt as part of my journey.
❄️What are you trying to achieve this month? What have you already achieved this year?
I am trying to just get consistent about logging my food. The good the bad the ugly. My goal is to just log everything. I can make some small adjustments from there.
❄️How do you plan to celebrate the holidays and are there any strategies you have put/will be putting in place to help you through?
I have no strategies other than to give myself grace under stress, eat more veggies and work out a meal plan that I subsequently log and follow as best I can.
❄️Don't forget to pat yourself on the back for committing to yourself this year. Whether you've kept it going since January or just started up in the last few months. Well done either way!
Well Since I am new, I will be applying this advice to my next year. So thanks from me in January of 2024. lol

Almost the end of the month. I've decided not to log the remainder of the year and just enjoy my time off with my family. So when I weigh myself at home on Mondays, it's always in the morning, before breakfast, and with no clothes on. You know, like a normal person.
However, sometimes I check my weight at the gym which has one of the old fashioned scales, where you move the top and bottom counters. And it's always midday after 1 to 2 meals, and I'm wearing clothes.
Well, I got under 250lbs at home a couple weeks ago, but I was always over 250lbs at the gym. But not this week! I finally did it!

This is finngirl, and I've been very behind but going to catch up this weekend. I wish you all a wonderful 2023! One thing I wanted to pass along was from Amber Bolton who does online Bible studies. She posed one question- 'A year from now, or this weekend, what do you wish you had started (or continued) this weekend? So the first thing that comes to mind, is probably a big deal. Don't sit on it for too long. Just think about it.2

Just found this today, so I'll be keeping an eye out for the January link. I can't wait to see what January holds for me!1

Hi again, wanted to edit my post above. This is the question:
A year from now (or this weekend), what do you wish you'd started or continued?
Amber sets goals vs resolutions and I like that. She's on Facebook if you're interested.
Thank you Raven St. Cloud for doing this!!!
Oh and wanted to ask- my fitbit is shot so looking for a new one and reading reviews. Any suggestions?1 -
