too much fat?

I was looking at my fat consumption and noticed that I almost always go over the number of grams MFP allows me. They allow me 40 grams of fat and I almost always go over, sometimes up to 60 grams or so.

I have only been a member for 11 days now, and I have just focused on staying under my calorie goal. I feel that for the most part I eat pretty healthy. Lots of fruits & veggies (to me…). I believe my food diary is open so others can look at it, if that helps.

Is going over my fat allowance something I should be worried about? Thank you for your help!

Fat helps keep you full and helps you feel satisfied. I get A LOT of plant based fat (nut, avocado) and it helps me stay near my calorie goal.

Fat is also important for brain function.

Don't be afraid of (healthy) fat!

What kind of fat? brats and restaurant foods tend ot be bad foods. avacados, nuts and seeds with fats are better for you but still fat. be careful with these.

    YUP!

Healthy fats do not make you fat, they are actually shown to burn bodyfat, especially belly fat.

Lot's of cheese and processed taco meat aren't very good sources of fat. The fat in avocado's and nuts including peanut butter are good fat. The ones you are consuming contain a lot of chemicals and sat and trans fats so it's best to switch that out and reduce as much as possible for the sake of your heart.

Yes you can lose weight on high fat diets as long as you stay within your calorie alotment but they are rough on your organs and system and not recommended for the long term.

I agree! I use a lot of olive oil drizzled on salads etc and I don't worry too much if I go over - folk in the Mefiterranean have been living long healthy lives with it for centuries so I don't get too hung up about it

The only bad fat I know of is trans fat. Please stop the hate on saturated fat. It is not bad for you and your body needs it.

I regularly go over on fat but not calories (just look at my diary!) and have lost almost 30 pounds. I make sure the bulk of the fat is from healthy sources...most of it boils down to my almond addiction. :blushing:
