Heavy Metal Workout!

so, I like everybody else, like to have my music playing as I work out (it makes it a lot less boring...) However, I'm not into the pop music that most people recommend working out to, so I thought I would share what I like to work out to, in case any other metal heads are having the same problem.
When I first started to compose this list, I was looking for the wrong aspect in my music. I believed that having a good bass pedal part would make it good to work out to. After trying to work out to Satyricon, I found out that I couldn't be more wrong. It needs a prominent bass part, which leads me to my first preferred band to work out to:
KoRn. Fieldy is insane on the bass and it's good to work out to. Other than the bass, angry music is usually good. Here are a few albums that are my go-tos
Indestructible- Disturbed
The Way of the Fist- Five Finger Death Punch
Absolution- Muse (not really metal, but they're great to work out to!)
and a few individual songs
Emerald Sword- Rhapsody of Fire (I imagine just about anything by them would be good! and it's in Italian!!)
Repetition of Hatred- Dir En Grey (in Japanese)
Roundabout- Yes (also, not metal, but it has a great bass part)
2 Minutes to Midnight- Iron Maiden
Drawing the Line- Porcupine Tree
Sad Statue- System of a Down
BYOB- System of a Down
Believe- Cher (yeah, I like Cher too...)
Playing With Dolls- Slayer
A Future Uncertain- Nevermore
Sex on Fire- Kings of Leon (alternative, but still good)
Sheer Heart Attack- Queen (one of their more punk songs[before punk was punk])
Breaking Benjamen before the Dear Agony album, Awesome!!
That's all for right now. And remember, before listening to any of these songs yourself, you may not like them. Some of them have questionable, even offensive content to some people, listen at your own risk \m/ \m/

    Dethklok.
I will sing the Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle at the top of my lungs while I run on the treadmill.

I think you should include this in your playlist...
  • You should check out Devil Driver and High On Fire, two of my favs when I'm working out. Foo Fighter are good too.

I like to do my run to Aces High - Iron Maiden. It's an awesome fast paced beat which is kept up for 4 and a half mins. I'm so busy singing to myself that I don't notice how long it's been and how high my heart rate is!
It could be a good addition to your playlist.

I love Emerald Sword too for the same reason - top choice!

Also, Panic Attack by Dream Theater is in a 6/8 time signature (for non-music theory people, that translates to crazy fast.) it's a great one too!!

I was looking for a Tool song, I'll see if my boyfriend has the one on your playlist, I like working out to Judith by A Perfect Circle. it makes me think of somebody I'd like to punch in the face, so that's what gives me the energy to do it!

My friend did her first session of C25K with me the other day and had to adjust her heavy metal playlist afterwards, too many BPM for beginners on the original version!

Aces High's solo came in at the exact same time as my second to last interval sprint yesterday. It was extremely dangerous.

Where do you find classes like this? I swear San Antonio doesn't have anything close to that here!

I am in San Antonio too 4jenniferk and you are right, that we don't usually have anything. We do have bellydancing classes I think, but I am not sure where. Some of my female friends took them.
