When will I see results??

I have been on the MFP for 4 weeks now and have only lost 5lbs

I exercise every day - burning on average 800 cals a day.

I never go over my daily allowance.

I know people will answer with "you are toning up" which is fine but when will the weight start to drop??

I don`t want to be a toned 14 stone woman - I want to be a 12 stone toned woman.

I have even cut alcohol right down!!!!

Anyone been here - done that??? and started to see weight loss eventually??

I would love to hear from you!

Many Thanks

Paula x

It took about two months before my loss became noticable and consistant.

You are seeing results - you're reporting steady successful healthy weight loss.

But if it helps, I started at 14 stone (and a bit) 7 or 8 weeks ago, I'm now 12 stones and 9 pounds, and it's just this week that people have started saying how thin I look.

it's hard, eh. I had a really good week this week - I thought...but I gained. I was, and still am irritated about it.
I have heard some people talk about alternating your calories? So eating over one day, and eating under the next?
If you are a gym person, this is something I learned a few years ago. Interval training is good for "shocking" your body. I used to set a treadmill to sprint and a high incline, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds standing on the edges. For some reason, that change (instead of running for 10 minutes continuously) really helped, and i dropped some weight fast.
Maybe I should take my own advice?
good luck anyway. keep up the effort and results are bound to happen :)

Now that is 5 lbs less than you were 4 weeks ago :-)....

Unfortunately cant see you food diary - so not that easy to give advice - do you eat back your exercise calories (or at least some of them) - you might actually be eating too little, so your body is doing it's damndest to hang onto the fat it has .....

When you dont have all that much to lose it might be slower - and from the seeing the experience of many people on here - if you eat too little you will struggle to shed the lbs...

It is going to be a while. Your fat reserves have to go first before the rest goes and you start to look better. I have lost 15 pounds since my first start and I can hardly tell. Some people tell me they can tell but, you may not see results for a while. Just keep doing what you are doing and stay positive. It is a big change that takes time.

PS. I have cut alcohol kinda all together. No beer, no fruity drinks, Vodka and soda water only and only one or two when I go out. You give up a lot sometimes and you will get something back :) keep your head up.

Please keep at it. 5lbs really is progress and as long as you keep losing at that rate you will see a difference.
I am a few years older and probably similar in size. I have lost 7lbs but can't see any change yet. I do feel the exercise is doing me good though.
I'm also in the UK so send me a friend request if you like.

Oh my goodness I am exactly the same! I have been eating really healthily and consciously since end of March and been going to the gym 3 times a week and cycling 5 x a week since beginning of April....do I weigh any less?

    NO!!

However, my body shape has visibly changed and I have noticed the cellulite is diminishing which is a great start and keeps me motivated.

They do say that slow steady weight loss is for the long-term and will be more likely to stay off than super fast weightloss.

I'm glad it's not just me that has experienced this, I thought I was doing something wrong but I think we're doing it the "right" way as opposed to shortcuts x

5 pounds in four weeks is more than a pound a week.
    That's progress!
Keep doing what you are doing and it will keep coming off. Slow and steady is better... much more likely to stay off that way.

You may find that the weight loss may be from fat around your internal organs, which isn't as nice to see in the mirror but in fact is a lot better for your health!

Also, I wonder if you are comparing waist/neck/etc measurements as well as weight?

Don't lose heart in what seems like slow progress. Remember that the tortoise beat the hare!

5lbs in a month isn't bad! They say you should aim to lose 1-2lbs a week, so you're bang on that! Maybe try checking your portion sizes? Healthy food can fast become unhealthy if you're eating way too much of it! Also, make sure you're measuring your waist/hips/chest as you'll notice inches coming off! xx
