I need a swift kick of motivation

I've been using MFP since mid-July and could use some tips and a little encouragement (or a big swift kick). I've been teetering between a plateau and mild weight gain. I've put on 6 lbs since I joined. It's not a lot, but it's enough to make the clothes a bit snug, is that much farther away from my goal and as I'm sure you know, isn't very encouraging.
So I'm reaching out to you, MFP community...
What tricks do you use to get yourself to the gym or to exercise? - There are days where I get the gym clothes on, but then find 12 other "more important" things that need to be done...
What foods or tips, other than lots of water, have you found to be helpful especially on the days when you've eaten more than your allotted calories and are STILL ravenous? Does anything fill you up more or make you less hungry?
Thanks!

BELIEVE that you are capable of change........Don't over think it. Make it the thing you MUST do, before you get to the "to-do" list. When it's a good habit again, HANG on, and recognize the slippery slope of negotiating with the inner sedentary voice.0

I need a swift kick too. I've lost 18 pounds since joining, but I'm only halfway to my goal. I've been a little lazy lately.0

I hate to say this, but only you can make yourself do something. If you want it bad enough you'll go after it. If you want to lose weight your going to have to do what it takes to lose the weight.0

I make the gym my TOP priority Does your gym offer any fun classes? I would suggest signing up for a class.. I always feel so much better when i'm walking out of the gym. As far as food goes I always tend to snack more on the weekend so i wash and chop up tons of vegetables and fruits and put them in front of everything in the fridge so that is the first thing i see.. Frozen grapes are put in front of the ice cream 100 calorie snacks are put in front of the cookies.. (i still have to keep them in the house becasue it's the easiest way to bribe an almost 3 year old.0

Just do it. Losing weight unfortunately is hard work. When you get those workout clothes out.. put them on! After about 10 minutes of exercising you'll feel better (helloooo endorphin)
I was once told that if I lacked motivation.. I didn't want it badly enough... that was MY swift kick to the rear.0 -
For me it's always going window shopping with my friends and trying on clothes I cant fit. It motivates me to say "Next time I come back to this store I'm gonna be in a size ___". My friend put the worse and biggest picture of himself and puts it as his screen saver and prints one out to put near his bed so its a constant reminder of his goal. If you have someone to workout with that always pushing you it kinda guilts me into working out on the days I dont feel like it because you dont wanna ditch them.0

First of all. Go to the gym. Tell yourself you can leave after 10 minutes. If I get there and do 10 minutes, I always do more--like 30 minutes. Yes there are foods that fill you up and make you feel fuller longer. Protein works for me. I stay fuller about twice as long. Protein also helps your muscles recover if you are working out. Some people feel fuller with fiber. Hope this is helpful.0

When you feel ravenous drink ice cold water... one to two BIG glasses of water.0

Get your workout clothes out early in the morning to make yourself think it is a neccessity to go to the gym and is in your schedule for the day0

Another thought--I have never ever said "I regret doing that" after working out.0

I think it takes something like 90 days for an activity to become habit. I work out Monday-Friday, at this point it's jut part of my job so to speak. Find a time that works, and just do it for 90 days. When my alarm goes off, and I'm tired and the LAST thing I want to do is go to the gym I say to myself "get your a@* out of bed!" so I do. I also plan to go to the gym every day m-f, that way if I just need the rest, at least I've gone to the 4xs, which isn't bad...YOU CAN DO IT!0

I just go back on here a couple of days ago. My starting weight on my journey was 204, my starting weight on MFP was 188..... I was well on my way, hitting the gym at least 3-4 times per week, watching what I ate, etc. I did have a back injury over a year ago which caused me to stop working out. I quickly put pounds back on. I am currently at 197 and so deflated to have to start this all over again, so just remember to log on here every day to keep yourself in check. I am a SAHM and also do in home childcare. I stay very busy, what works for me, is a visual to do list. ex: 1. workout 2. pay bills 3. laundry 4. cook dinner. (I have an android phone and actually use chore checklist app. you can add whatever you want on there) set your goals and put you first. ) I wish you success !! Add me as a friend if you like !0

I think you're on to something here with lacking motivation and not wanting it badly enough. Thanks!0 -
Thank you all for your support. Yeah, I think it comes down to motivation and really wanting to lose the weight. Some days it's easier to whine about it, but whining about it isn't going to make the jeans fit any better. I have successfully been kicked.
My new goal is to hit the gym today after work, and then at least once a day every work-day next week. If I manage to hit the weekends as well, bonus.
Thanks again!0 -

As a morning workout person, I pack my bag the night before and put it in my car. When I don't want to get out of bed, I remember that my clothes and and all my "products" are out there already.
Aside from that, I usually just tell myself how much I'll be kicking myself later if I don't go.0
