13 days no alcohol, processed food or empty calories...:). Went to COSTCO and did not get my usual soft serve. Said no to friend wanting me to go to lunch...talked her into coffee. I am not disciplined yet or in control to go out for lunch.21

A coworker told me, "If you don't want to buy new clothes, You should at least invest in a new belt. You keep pulling your pants up for your life."
I love my coworkers.. we can be *kitten* to each other and yet we still get along with each other.12 -
Losing weight in all the wrong places my lower arms my calves and my face show it..but my waist hips and thighs cling to the fat. FINALLY lost 2 inches around my hips..my waist fluctuates but on average I see a downwards trend there too. I see more muscle definition and my work jeans are getting loose. Yay!

Fit myself back into a shirt I used to look really good in, looking good again!13

My most recent NSV was that my boyfriends jacket fits around my hips AND zips up!!! I know its on the smaller side of big deals, BUT he's a tall lean man, and for his clothes to start to fit me is honestly such a huge marker for me that I am getting smaller as I continue with my program! its so nice!17

I made my fav risotto for dinner and only ate 1/4 of what I normally would and was fine with that. I'm working hard on having smaller servings and not over eating and this was a huge win for finding better balance.16

stuck in a mother may I do-loop, very frustrating and leading to me being in a pissy mood. Apparently pissy mood = desire to want to eat everything. Luckily I brought my lunch and have no cash to hit the vending machine, so when the food's gone then that's it until I get home I'm a little surprised about that reaction, because i don't really stress eat. but now I know.
and the mood is somewhat dissipating so with luck I won't eat the house when I get home.8 -
I had a serious NSV this morning! I was resisting measuring my waist and hips, even though I've lost almost 20 pounds since I measured. Here are the results:
Start Waist: 42
Today: 38.5
Start Hips: 46
Today: 44

Non scale victory: I fit into a dress for work that I haven't worn in 3 years! I got rid of a lot of the clothes that didn't fit, but I saved a few favorites. Still can't fit in the others, but this is a start and was very exciting for me!21

Earlier this year I was taken off my blood pressure medication, and just bought some new shirts since my old business shirts are like tents on me now. Best of all is being confident enough to wear a singlet in public (at the gym) for the first time in 20+ years.13
-
Had a physical and all my blood work was in normal limits, and my cholesterol was better than it was when it was last checked.
Also, I lost over 6 pounds of fat and gained over 4 pounds of muscle since I'd last checked my body composition15 -
I noticed my reflection in the mirror at the gym today. I sort of did yesterday, but I didn't really notice. Today something in my head stopped me and said, "You ain't pudgy." I thought it was nice of my brain to tell me that.21

Did a class I haven’t done for awhile: it was tons easier with some weight & fat loss😄12
-
My most recent NSV is seeing muscle definition in my shoulders and upper arms after focused exercises using light weights over the last month. 👀11
-
Fiancé and I bought a treadmill and I did 30 mins on a 13 incline at 3.0mph speed. Had to stop a few times half way through the end but I did it. I used to that no problem a year ago so trying to make it seem easy again.12

I volunteered for 6+ hours at a community event that involved lots of interaction with other humans (strangers), a thing that's draining for me as a natural introvert (though I think I do OK at it). I did it after a short and pretty unsatisfying night's sleep. I hadn't eaten since breakfast (except for one little Babybel cheese round), and it was after 7PM by the time I was heading home after some post-event errands.
Usually, tired and hungry as I was, I'd think about going out to eat at a restaurant, and probably indulging.
Instead - very sincerely - I decided it would make me happier to go home and make a big bowl of home-made pea soup and mixed veggies (with some tasty reduced-fat Jarlsberg cheese) - a great comfort food. (The peas were in the freezer, so it was not complex, just a little chopping.)
I just finished eating it. It was perfect . . . and entirely calorie-appropriate, nutrition-packed as well as tasty and satisfying.
Win!24 -
Oh well played AnnPT77 . I just weeded and spread mulch on my new flower bed despite it being cold and grey. Think I may have weeded some of the flowers I planted last year, but it looks so neat and loved now. And I have earned dinner.12

Browsing a department store and casually trying on size M and size S sweaters (I do believe the brand was quite generous). Even ended up trying a size XS when S wasn’t available which is insane!
For the last 2 years I’ve been between M-L (XL jn more high end brands) and most of my life I’ve been solidly in XL/XXL territory. Actually even browsing clothes in this store is a NSV because I always used to be sized out of it.20 -
I bumped up my weights again for my workouts and am using 12s and 15s now and feel myself getting stronger.17
-
For the first time last week as able to do 5 pullups without any kind of assistance.22

I’m in the right headspace to accomplish my goal19

Husband bought me a lovely pair of trousers for christmas 2 years ago that were always too tight and now I can finally wear them! He now believe that I really like them and am not just saying it17

My husband and I are on vacation in Europe. This morning I walked up all 374 steps of the Montagne de Bueren, a staircase built in 1881, in Liège, Belgium in 7 minutes and 56 seconds. I didn't time my trip back down as it snowed last night and the top half of the steps were still covered in wet snow. I'm pretty certain it took longer going down as we were being very cautious. Hehe.14

I’m in the right headspace to accomplish my goal
I'm able to refocus on fundamentals like this, amid all the static of my self-recrimination (gaining weight, not losing weight before, etc) so that I can see a path forward that I feel I can achieve the success that's so important to me now. It looks do-able! I'm doing this.
Every day I begin with dressing for activity, which I find humorous as a 69 year old heading out the door dressed like some elite athlete
My sale rack running tights are too big now... soon I'll have to replace them because having to stop walking and hike them back up is a little weird.
My self-talk is positive and optimistic. Even when it sounds like this: welp, these pounds are not going to walk themselves off...20 -
Yesterday my husband wanted cubed steak and mashed potatoes for dinner. I was going to have the cubed steak but not fried and breaded with a salad and baked potato. But I ended up getting a can of smoked herring for my protein, with the salad and baked potato instead. When the cubed steak was cooking, the smell of the grease made me feel sick. I remembered the last time we had it and I got sick from the grease. I can't handle that much grease anymore. I'm just not used to it. This time last year I was obese. This time next week I'll be in normal BMI range. I am 1.8 pounds from my goal! Currently 56.2 pounds down.31

My resting HR is back under 60bpm. Happy with that.15

I had a couple of NSVs this week.
1. I had Covid back in mid- January and then covid rebound on top of that. This week was the first time I was able to do my pre-covid exercise schedule of 5 days water aerobics and 3 days strength training! I had to very slowly work up to it dealing with a lot of post covid fatigue and headaches. The headaches are finally gone and the fatigue has diminished dramatically. So glad to be back.
2. I tried on a size 6 in my favorite jeans in the store. Didn't buy them but I was able to fully zip and button them. Almost wearable. Yay!15 -
So far in 2023 I’ve eaten the majority of meals at home. I’m cooking more frequently than I ever have in my life. It feels good and it tastes better. I’m proud of myself.21
