Way to go! You have truly changed your life. Wow!
And now the hard part begins. I say that because you still have to eat heathy and exercise, but you don't get to see a new reward. But remember that living in this new, hard-won body IS your reward. Don't ever take that for granted. The only way I have been successful on maintenance is to log into MFP. One of my favorite inspirational quotes: That which is measure improves.
Best to you!8 -
In deed it is a challenge. That's when the hard part begins. Challenging but not impossible. You can do it. Good job thus far.3

Utmost props to you, my dear!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love these “first post” success stories. They prove people are lurking and learning. I sincerely wish you’d share more of your story!1 -
The first couple weeks of Maintenance were more difficult mentally than any point of my weight loss journey.3

Congratulations! I'm finally (just about) there myself. I'm trying maintenance out with some degree of apprehension. I figure as long as I keep logging I should be okay. I know about the 5 year "gain it back" thing. Don't want to do that!3

I appreciate what you are saying - wow maintenance is HARD. I am about a 1 month out from reaching my goal and the day to day struggle is real. Keep up the good work!1

@gbp2019 how is maintenance going?0

Amazingly enough I haven't found it that hard. maybe because I took loosing so slowly (lost 80 lbs) and made the changes slowly so when I finally hit a weight that was right in the middle of the "normal" BMI Just stuck there. Ten years into maintenance and it's only a little harder because of some issues that have had me modify my workouts and then again I am 73.6

Hi, Everyone..I am new to MFP. I have a long history with weight loss....I promise I will keep it short. Summary.....lost 80 lbs when I was 20 through WW. Kept the weight off for 35 years. I had one year with a lot of work and personal stress, and I dealt with it in my favorite way....food! Gained back all 80 lbs by the time I was 60. Lost the 80 lbs again when I turned 61and have maintained within 10lbs of my goal weight. I am finding it harder and harder to maintain... I will be 72 in February and I truly am scared that I will not be able to maintain within my 10 lbs. Would love to hear from people who are successful at maintaining a large weight loss at a much older age. Thank you!5
