Daily struggle- starting off with good intentions and falling on my face by dinner :(

I’m truly addicted to food- carby, comforting food. And the more I try to steer clear of it and successfully make some healthy choices early in in my day, the more I binge at night. If I start the day bad it just gets worse from there.
I have about 50 lbs to lose, but I’ve been losing and gaining the same 3-5 lbs for the past few months… I really need some tips on how to overcome this as this weight problem is crippling so many aspects of my life.
Thank you!
Cannot be keto ( I believe) as I’m a breastfeeding mom.

I’m sorry your struggling… I find knowing why I want to commit to my own health to be a driving factor. Why do you want to lose weight? Why do you want to be healthy? Why? Know your why and remind yourself every hour if you need to.. don’t forget why you want this.. another thing, I struggled with binge eating, not allowing myself for after a certain time of day was helpful. Not sure if that’s an option since your breastfeeding your nutrition needs may be different. When I was nursing I snacked constantly, maybe increase your water to help fill you up. Nursing does require some extra calories so I wouldn’t cut too far maybe just allow for a slower weight loss.. I also found identifying my hunger triggers which usually wasn’t hunger at all was also helpful in replacing my bad snacking habits with better habits. Identify what’s causing the urge.. stress? Fatigue? Boredom,etc.. I would try to ignore my cravings and distract myself with a different activity besides eating, like taking a walk, drinking herbal tea, doing a quick stretch session, doing a craft, something to occupy my mind for 15-20 minutes until the urge passes, if it doesn’t pass after redirecting my thoughts then I might actually be hungry and will allow myself some protein and a fruit.. something like that. To be honest, I’m 4 yrs into my health journey, I still lack motivation some days, I still have to plan my days meals, it’s still a daily struggle so to speak, it only feels easier because it’s become a habit but the struggle is still there. Everyday I work to be healthy. Everyday is a new day to restart so to speak. It’s not all or nothing. Staying in plan for the first half of the day should be enough motivation for you to keep trying and eventually you’ll stay in plan for the entire day and the next and the next. Practice makes progress. Consistency makes results. Reach out if you need help or encouragement or support along the way. There are also some groups you might find helpful. Just keep trying, you got this..🤗

Depending who else is in your house, could you go cold Turkey? Don’t buy the carby snacks and foods you know will tempt you. Perhaps read up on blood sugar and you’ll understand your cravings and you may be blown away by how soon you can break out of the cycle and drop the cravings if you switch out certain foods and replace with lots of lean protein & veggies. As in LOTS. So there’s no doubt in your mind that you’re full after your meal.

More protein during the earlier hours of the day and throughout the day helps me a ton!
