@wendsg You would do amazing in an Ironman! The bike is definitely the most important leg of the race. I didn't even own a bike when I decided to try and do a half. The swim is what bothers most people, but if you look at the time difference between first and last place, its pretty small. You can make huge gains in the bike. My suggestion would be to do some shorter races as part of the training. There is a definite learning curve to speeding up in the transition area and figuring out what gear works best for you. Good luck!

Today... was absolute murder.
Pace bots do make a huge difference, as do massive crowds (that draft is beautiful). My IRL imperial century time sits around 6 hours on my steel race bike, and 7.5 hours on my gravel bike (which is a heavy beast, and I was having fun sight seeing so meh, doesn't count lol). I'd like to try one on my Bianchi one of these days to see how rapidly I can accomplish one on that beast (metric centuries in less than 4 are quite feasible on the Bianchi as proven last year, and the Assault on the Carolinas should be quite fun - last year I did it in 4.5, and I'm trying to match or beat that this year).
Still, despite having a pace bot, it doesn't stop the feet from setting themselves on fire when you're in toe baskets wearing tennis shoes. And to make matters worse, today was Interval training day, so following the imperial, I did some quick core exercises for a 'break' then rolled into a hard 20 minute interval session on the bike. Ugh.
But got some great milage! 🤪

@sarabushby Thank you! I call it 'stubbornness' rather than being a machine, though lol (machines don't pay the price with sore legs the next day)
Daily 10 done. Thankfully.

Still on track for my 2023. Hoping to bank a few extra miles over the next 2 weeks, then I'm heading to Europe for 3 weeks so I won't be riding much!3 -
@SavageMrsMoose Have a grand time in Europe!!!
Finished the daily 10. Parrot was losing his mind, but oh well lol
Got a good ride coming up tomorrow, so kept today quite light.

Tour de Lowcountry today! So glad I took my old steel bike - the carbon fiber would've demolished my bones on those rattly roads.

Finished the 'Back to Fitness' training program in Zwift! Going to take a break from training programs this week to facilitate full recovery before the Assault on the Carolinas this weekend, and then hit the ground running with another training program next week. So it'll just be 10 mile Pace Partner efforts until Saturday.
