I am 5'1 and 127lbs, which is on the higher end for my height. I began exercising September 1 ( 40 minute dvd's with cardio and pilates as well as some light strength training or 40 minute brisk walks) and take off 1 day/week. I have also dramatically reduced/removed processed foods and sugary foods from my diet. ( I have a major sweet tooth). During these 3 weeks my calories consumed have been 1200-1400/day. My weight hasn't budged and I feel bigger this week. Obviously, I am on a learning curve and haven't been perfect , but I feel like I am missing something. Help!

  • I know how you feel. It could be because you have eatne alot of sodium. I know that did it big time for me. But then when I stop eating so much salt. Boom my actualy weight showed. Thats what happen to me. but I love love love salt.

  • your food diary looks good and it is good that you are eating back your exercise calories.....but I would suggest you drink more water.....this will help with some weight loss.....I am at 125 lbs after losing 13lbs since June 30, 2011 and I am 5'3" and if I don't drink my full 9 glasses of water each day, I can sure tell a difference.....good luck and feel free to add me as a friend

OMG I have been feeling the same way! ... I only need to lose about 10-15 lbs and I'm just trying to do about a pound a week. The first weigh in showed me down 1.5 lbs, and then I stayed exactly the same for the next weigh in, and then I couldn't resist checking mid week before the next weigh in (at the same time of day of course) and I'm back up that 1.5 lbs that i originally lost.... its kind of depressing considering how hard I feel like I've been trying to exercise and eat right... I'm starting to wonder if I am just inpatient or maybe still not trying hard enough?... ughhh

Your diary isn't perfect, but then I don't think there's one that is. From what I see from what you've logged is that you should A) keep doing what you're doing, and B) drink more water.
  • Wow, sounds like you are on the right path... and maybe even into muscle building mode! Not bad weight, but if you're looking for the numbers to go down, they might not with what you are doing... I don't know... maybe try lowering your calorie intake. I am 5'9" and my intake is about 1230 for weight loss. At 5'1" that might be too many for weight loss... Just a thought.

    Good luck!
  • Thank you, I haven't even had salt on my radar.

That's very encouraging, thanks. Any recommendations from what you saw?

Well, If you're looking for a little tweaking (nothing extreme as what you're doing is already pretty good) I would up the fruits and veggies, keep your proteins lean (as you are), your carbs complex, cut some of the sugar and salt and kick up your workouts a notch or two. All this bearing in mind that I'm no expert. I think you're doing well though!

That all makes sense. I will work on this!

Good luck! Don't forget the water part. I think you'll see a big difference just from that.
  • has your body fat % gone down? you could be losing fat and gaining muscle :)
