right, last couple of months i havent been sleeping too good, id either fal asleep sroubd 12am and wake up around 6 or 7 am, or i wouldnt be able to fall asleep untill about 3am and ill be up at about 7am ish, and some nights i cant sleep at all! But just now at 3:00am, i went to sleep at 11pm last night as i was tired after me jogging etc. But now ive just woken up really suddenly, my breathing was heavy, my heart was pumping and i had few tears down my face.. This has never happend before!! Bareing in mind its only 3am over here soo ive only been to sleep for 4 hours!! And i cant go back to sleep at all now! I dont know why my heart was pumping or anything? I wasnt having a nightmare =/
I dont even know why i just randomly wake up, everyones aseleep in my house, its dark (which helps me sleep), and its quiet. Soo i just dont know?
Any suggestions on whats wrong? Or what i should do about it. The common answer will be 'go docs and get some sleeping tablets' well yes i would do that, but there only going to work for the time im taking the tablets! And i cant exactly take them for the rest of my lifee =/
Thanks in advanced

Are you winding down from the day & working out before attempting to sleep? Maybe some "white noise" would help. I listen to thunderstorms when I can't sleep or have too much on the brain. It gets me focused on something else.
Is this the first time the sudden wake up with the fast heart rate & heavy breathing has happened? If it is, maybe you were having a bad dream.
If it continues, I'd definitely go with seeing the doctor.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I hope you get a regular good nights rest really soon!0 -
you should see a specialist...you could have sleep apnea or some other sleep disorder....this could be serious. Please consider seeing a professional about this. my sis would actually STOP breathing every minute, she was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and was placed on a CPAP.0

Have you tried melatonin. Melatonin is a natural chemical produced by the brain that tells your body when to fall asleep. If your circadian rhythyms are off, and they sound like they are, then your brain will not produce enough melatonin at the appropriate times. If you take melatonin capsules (crazy cheap at the supermarkets here in the US lately) every night at the same time, you will ultimately retrain your brain to produce melatonin at that time. You only have to take the supplement for three months for this to work. Sometimes it only takes weeks. Let's say you take it at 10pm every night. One day you will suddenly find yourself sleepy at 10pm without having to take the melatonin at all.0

Don't go to the Doctor, sleeping pills can be addictive. A natural solution is Melatonin, Valerian root and Saint Johns wort. Take one night a different one the next keep rotating them a different one every night. O was having a horrible time sleeping and these has really helped. You can buy all of them at a drug store or Health food store. All are pretty reasonable.0

I would say go to the doc and figure out what the problem is.This may involve having a sleep study done or it may be a matter of adjusting the things you eat or what time of the day you work out. A good doctor knows sleeping pills are only the short term option, but you need to work with a doctor for a long term solution.

Ooo sounds gooood!! I shall have a look for them0 -
I experience the same problem whenever I change my diet/eating habits and exercise routine-- I can't sleep!! I wrote a blog about it on MFP about a week ago but didn't really find a solution. However, I have heard that pumpkin seeds have something in them that makes you sleepy! I bought some at the bulk food market Roasted and Unsalted and I eat about a hand full every night about an hour before I go to bed. So far I've been sleeping fine!! Try that and see if it helps? They taste really good too and it's better for you than going on meds!
Good luck0 -
you should go to the dr. they wont necessarily prescribe sleeping pills. they may do a sleep study on u. or they may look a little deeper into your life. my mom had the same problem a couple years ago. she had a lot of huge changes in a months time. and turns out her insomnia was due to depression. which still required pills, but for a few months. try to get checked out.0

Oh dear, uve got me worried now =/0 -
I have trouble sleeping too and melatonin does work pretty good. I use it from time to time. I do notice the later I work out the longer it takes to fall asleep. You may want to consider working out earlier, for me it's not an option but you could consider it. It may also be anxiety so make sure you get it checked out if it persists. I hate not being able to sleep...wouldn't wish it on anyone. Hope you get it worked out!!0

My mother has me make TEA with the spice ANIS. It is made to relax you and you don't need much. A sea salt bath is really great because it detoxifies you and relaxes your muscles. I usually have a glass of wine after and sleep like a baby. If your near a beach go swimming, same thing or swim in a pool then go home wash off and head for bed. Try the tea, it's the easiest. My mother is a healer and when I can't sleep she usually sends me a bag full of stuff that looks like she picked it up in a forest and I make tea and drink it. Good luck. Sleep well. V0
