All about the legs

I need some advice for targeting my hips and thighs. I have been working out and cutting calories (1200 cal goal) for the past three weeks. And now it feels like my jeans are tighter in my upper legs than before....ugh. I've heard it could be from all the cardio classes. I'm doing Zumba, Tabata and some running. I'm also doing strength training (both upper and lower body). What can I do to lose inches around my upper legs so things do fit so snugly?

I wear Fit flops all the time. Do you have these? Like training shoes?0

I'm no specialist at all... but what trainers have told me (after 3wks anyway) that my body is still retaining a lot of water from all the work I'm doing to it. That and swelling. Not sure how true that is... but I had the same problem and kinda wondered myself.0

Only real way is to cut calories and increase cardio, hoping to reduce fat in that area. Wish it were simpler.
Chances are your legs are mostly muscle though, so them getting smaller just might not happen.0 -
Running will tone your body, but the strength training will increase muscle size.0

squat for your life - lunges, air squats, weighted front squats, Overhead Squats, back squats - and go heavy!! My hips and butt have never looked so good.0

Bump. 30ds lvl 2 has some killer leg stuff-30ds rocks anyways but definitely awesome for toning.0 -
My hips and thighs are where I hold almost all of my body fat. I used to lift hard and heavy and never saw improvement in my leg shape. I had super strong muscle but fat covered them. Mind you I did little to no cardio and ate junk.
When I decided to try again to get in shape about 2 months ago, I started the C25K 3 days a week and tabata/strength/circuits 3 days a week. In 8 weeks my legs have transformed more than I could have ever imagined. I love them now. Of course, I eat much better also. I have only lost a few pounds on the scale because I am at my goal weight and eat at maintenance, plus all of my exercise calories.
My tabata and circuits include tire flips, tire drags, box jumps, mountain climbers, burpees, suicides and other body weight exercises.0 -

Does anyone know if this is true? I've heard this before, that when you first start out, muscles are retaining water making you actually a little heavier.
Maybe the answer lies in increasing cardio and more squats! We shall see...0 -

It's probably just a build up of awesomness from all the hard work you've been doing. I'm thinking you just keep doing it, and give the awesomness time to even out.
Plus.. nothing wrong with tight jeans.0 -
