What is your net calorie goal? Is everyone's 1200 calories?

Just wondering, how do they decide that? I see a lot of 1200... so is that the norm?

  • It really depends on your BMR.

Mine was 1,200 but I increased my activity level in my settings since I am a server in a busy restaurant, and I am very active, even outside of working out. When I did, my calories jumped up to 1,330. I already have a challenge getting up to 1,200 a day, so 1,330 just doesn't happen, but I wanted to be accurate with my settings regardless.

I think 'they' say that 1,200 should be the minimum for most women.

Because of my high starting weight I started out with about 1900 calories, which has now reduced to 1740.

MFP prompts you to reduce your calorie intake after every 10lbs loss recorded.

The calorie intake is calulated according to your activity level and BMR.

MFP set mine at 1200 but I have reduced it to 1000 for a number of reasons, including the fact I am on meds that lower metabolism, and 1000 is an increase from my recent intake.

1470. Stay at home mom of a one year old. It was set to 1300, but my Dr. recommended I increase it else I may get exhausted and not loose any weight. It's important to make sure you are eating enough else you will just set yourself up to go into starvation mode and loose nothing.

So is mine! Just got reduced to that from 1600 recently.

I have the opposite problem of always exceeding 1600 cals, thank goodness for exercise and esp after taking up running.
