05/18 -195.6- (Trend weight 194.8) A good day yesterday. I stayed on plan, pre-logged and stayed the course with my portion sizes. I did a small amount of exercise on the stationary bike. Feeling somewhat better. My head is still a bit wonky but my throat swelling is going down. I am focusing on getting back into the 180’s. I don’t want to have to go in and change the html on my colorful slash chart below on every single one of my challenges. I’d rather just go ahead and skip that dinner roll or that side sauce. But it really isn’t that simple. Or is it?
05/19 -194.8- (Trend weight 194.8) It’s amazing what a good TMI and some water shedding will do. I don’t think I’ve lost any fat but I’ll take it! The endocrinologist upped my diabetes medication and wants me to lose some more weight. Surprise, Surprise. I’m going to pre-log my food for the day and hopefully have a very good day on plan. I’m babysitting DGS until tomorrow evening. I don’t plan on letting that derail me.

Maybe it was the fresh air and movement, but I decided that moping around about it (and especially eating while I mope!) won't do me any good, so.... new plan, based on recent science. I'm going to increase my protein goal to 25-35%, (I'm hitting 15-20% now) and reduce processed carbs along the lines of @SModa61's post above. Also limit cheese to ~1 oz/day. It's my biggest source of saturated fat and I LOVE cheese, so.... I probably won't get the changes in place this round as I'll need to do a bit of planning and shopping, but I have it in mind. DH does most of the cooking around here and leans heavily on pastas -- he's a lifelong skinny person and has only the barest notion of calories or macros! I can take over more dinners, and we each eat our own thing most breakfasts and lunches. If he wants French toast, I can make that and an egg or two for me at the same time. I do know that in the past when I cut out almost all sugar and processed carbs, I stopped craving them. Why did I let myself get back into bad habits? Yeesh! Anyway, I thought I'd reverse my down-in-the-dumps post from earlier with (once again) a plan of action that I will hopefully stick to better than I have the past 6 months.
Thanks once again to this lovely group -- it's so nice to have a place to spew and to get support and ideas without judgment. Have a great weekend, everyone!
@SheilaBoneham I married an Italian, so I get the pasta. Yes, when I lightened the carbs to help my cravings, I doubt I had pasta that first month. I do eat meals that are 100% pasta with simple red sauce, but likely only a couple times a month. It is lovely that your DH does cooking. If he were to make a bolognese sauce with the pasta, all that meat would boost the protein in the meal, and of course, if you are counting calories, you will correspondingly include less pasta in that meal. I think there also might be other types of pasta that are not wheat based, and maybe their carbs would be less triggering. I honestly don't know, but other's here might. The other tool I keep in my freezer (embarrassed to say) is Barber frozen chicken. Allows me a quick, close to no effort dinner (did last night with brown buttered carrots and a simple romaine salad). Hubby favors the Cordon Blu.
Funny about your cheese limit. This past week, after my blood work (which I am no longer as concerned about) I looked at my nutrition and my saturated fats are OFF THE CHART. So back to pre-packaged, Belgioioso parmesan snacks squares (not every day) and I went to Trader Joe's and grabbed more of the pre-portioned nuts and trail mixes as grab and goes.

Round 223: JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS
Hi, I’m Amanda, almost 50, wicked short 4’11” from New England.
My 1st goal is for mid-June (trip to LA/Vegas),
2nd goal for mid-August.
Appreciate all your support.
- Pre-plan meals for the day
- Daily movement
- No Late Night Snacking
Round 221 SW: 126.8
Round 222 SW: 122.6 ⬇️ debloated 4.2#
Round 223 SW: 121.0 ⬇️ 1.6#
Round 223 GW: 119.5
5/12 – 121.6 ⬆️Woke up early for my walk, before it got too hot.
Made beautiful corsage and boutonniere for DD’s Prom. She’s so beautiful!
5/13 – 120.6 ⬇️
I think I need to kick up my daily workouts a bit, to try to lose 4# in the next 4.5weeks for my LA vacation. Need to add in cardio on weight training days (since I don’t burn that many calories with weight training).
5/14 – 119.4 ⬇️
I did measurements today; I’m steadily losing inches (from de-bloating):
- 1” in my chest ☹,
- 2.75” in waist,
- 1.5” in hips since last month’s measurement).
Happy Mother’s Day!
5/15 – 119.4 ⬆️
Didn’t overeat at the Mother’s Day lunch yesterday.
Great WO: 3 separate pull-ups this morning! Felt great/less bloated.
5/16 – 119.0 ⬇️
Great 4miles walk this morning, gabbing with gf.
You know, 1 good thing about being wicked short is that a loss of 8# is noticeable; I’m down 1 size!
BUT the reverse is true also: just put on 5# and I look 5months preggo.
5/17 – 118.6 ⬇️
I’m not sure what’s happening, maybe I’m still de-bloating, but I’m not used to losing weight. This Keto thing has me feeling full and no cravings, so I’m not stuffing my face with random crap. I plan my meals and REALLY look forward to my great dinners.
5/18 – 119.2 ⬆️
See, I ate less than my allotted calories, but I still gain weight. I think it’s because I ate a lot more carbs than usual.
DH brought home some yummy treats last night. I ate 2 bites at dinner.
Later, the treats called my name, but I stayed strong. No LateNightSnacking.
Cross-fit Farming today: my shoulders are going to pay tonight
- Farmers Carry: moved a lot of bags of rocks
- Broad fork many beds
5/19 – 118.6 ⬇️
Not too stiff from yesterday’s farming.
Nice 3miles walk this morning.
It’s Day 99 of my daily movement.
Looking forward to weight training tomorrow for *** Day 100! ***
You’re having an amazing round! Way to go!5 -
@cyn_love - I was really concerned about the amount of gain from just one weekend of salt. I had a heart ablation procedure a couple weeks ago and was concerned that my heart wasn't pumping well enough to get rid of the water. I had some dandelion tea and went back to my low sodium eating and it seems to have gotten rid of the extra water weight, thank goodness.5

@SModa61 Thanks for the pasta info. We do often use chickpea and red lentil pastas in place of wheat, and that’s better in terms of cravings.2

My name is Paula and I am a 46 year old 100% service disabled veteran from the Army.
Here I go for my fourth round! I signed up for a variety of challenges to help change my mindset about healthy habits and getting my weight under control as well as motivate and push me through some emotionally and mentally tough times! I know God has a plan for me, but what in the heck is it because I feel like I’m out here flappin’ in the wind! Jk. But, seriously, Jesus, take the wheel because I have no sense of direction & I got lost! I want a better quality of life where I don’t have to ask my husband why he has to pick fights with me all the time…it’s like daily now here recently…I don’t engage though anymore…I just pray he stops before I just…I don’t even know! 🫨😵😵💫🥴😮💨🤭. We always say we will keep trying and not get divorced, but I also don’t want to be in solitary confinement after a prison yard fight at the nearest prison for killing m husband after my prison boo just finished my corn rows….just saying…I don’t look good in corn rows….🤫
I also use Noom, GOLO, and intermittent fasting (IF) using a 16:8 (fasting hours:eating hours) schedule to help affect the change with my weight. I have also DRASTICALLY overhauled my eating habits and what I eat to a more clean way of eating…except for my sporadic emotional eating binge of Reese’s peanut butter cups that I at least have the dignity to still track. I have no shame.
Starting weight - 240.0 lbs
Challenge goal weight - 235.0 lbs
5/12 - 240.0 lbs
5/13 - 237.2 lbs
5/14 - 239.0 lbs
5/15 - 237.4 lbs
5/16 - 235.0 lbs (LOWEST WEIGHT I HAVE BEEN IN ABOUT 5+ YEARS) 🫡🤭😎🥰. I am working to get myself back on track and not let my emotional and mental state hinder me, but use my efforts to lose weight to support my mental & emotional state. It is the one thing I can control in my life & damnit I’m taking the reigns! I have been working out more though at home doing some grueling circuit training to work through some aggression and use that energy in a positive, body transforming way. I’ve added some new supplements to my repertoire and time will tell if they are effective. I did extensive research on science backed research study results to see which ones showed marked improvements in studies that seemed to be setup in a fairly solid way.
5/17 - 235.0 lbs Worked out yesterday after doing a fairly grueling workout the day prior because I just can’t help myself. It really didn’t work out as planned and I ended up cutting some of the sets I planned on doing because I quickly realized that, yup, a rest day would have been better advised. I ate late compared to usual due to social cues from my husband accompanying us getting along and experiencing joy from each other’s company versus his initiating arguments as he had been doing for the past week —which was just exhausting. We’ve been having some fairly deep conversations and I feel like we are reconnecting. I am hopeful! 🥰😅
5/18 - 235.8 lbs 🥲😏😨 Here we go with the creep. I am coming to understand my weight loss trend and I am starting to not get so alarmed when it occurs. It was very off-putting at first because it was like what.the.BLEEP is happening!?! I have/had to stop feeling defeated when it occurs and then I would emotionally eat like screw it 😑 I am already screwed I might as well seal the deal and make it real! I know that just made it worse, but I stopped beating myself up about it and actually DIDN’T emotionally eat this time! I have been so busy otherwise preparing to move our family out of this extended stay hotel we have been at for YEARS then finally got on a waitlist for a 3 bedroom/2 bath apartment we found suitable that would allow us to stay in the area that we have grown to love and though our youngest son will be going to a different middle school starting over since his friends from his elementary school are going to a different middle school our oldest gets to remain at the same high school and keep all his friends. He is on the football team there and he says it’s the best school experience he’s had so far so we are glad that isn’t changing! I am recovering from some brutal back-to-back workouts I’ve been doing this week.
5/19 - 236.4 lbs 🫣🫢🤔🤭🫠. So it is still creeping, but I’m not going to let it panic me. What helped me is really examining my weight loss line graph and reviewing the trend of going up and down in like a set # of days to hit a low, then increase for a set number of days, then a dramatic drop taking the graph lower than it’s been then back up for a set of days, repeat, etc. I yet again just stuck straight to my healthy choices, avoided the emotional downward tumble in a bag or two of Reese’s to “comfort” and feel pity for myself, and kept it moving. Spent that energy focusing on making sure things were straight with our move, getting our change of address done, planning out the furnishing and decorating of the rooms, scouring my beloved free stuff sites and apps trying to see what treasures I can Re-purpose from someone else’s trash and expressing gratitude for such an opportunity to get myself right on that path to homeownership after MULTIPLE tumbles now that I realize I will not be blessed with that opportunity until I keep developing myself into that role so I can successfully use my VA Certificate of Eligibility to put my family and I FINALLY in our forever home that we can remain in because we have a healthy relationship and no longer treat it like it’s the devil and can actually hold on to it instead of fearing it’s presence as an malevolent spirit meant to seduce me from God. Plus I am diagnosed as Bipolar so that just adds more opportunities for me to work on creatively to not fall into the trap that Bipolar folks can tend to have with spending and such! I have been spending a lot of growing amounts of time developing my relationship with God instead of calling for his divine guidance and assistance when in dire need leaving me recently feeling guilty because He always answers my prayers when I call on Him, then lose His number almost unintentionally once things return to “normal”. I have experienced a lot more of an improved and fulfilling existence being intentionally devoted as best as I can (knowing it will only get better the more committed I remain) to improving this relationship. I’ve seen it carry over into even my weight loss over time because I feel more worthy deep down —which seems to almost by default restrain me with stronger will power from engaging in unhealthy eating & fitness habits so that I am more motivated to do the right things for the intention of rediscovering my healthier self who wants to live & do so in the best version of herself who constantly develops & grows! I am grateful for this & y’all!!!

Goals: increase steps per day
Cardio 5x a week
Strength 3x a week
100 oz h20
5.12.2023 - ⬇️ 170.6 😳 Nice! I drank tons of h20 so hopefully that did the trick! My lowest weight to date since I started in Feb ‘22! YAY! 🎉 strength & cardio at the gym tonight. I also sat in the sauna for about 10 minutes. I did eat 2 squares of pizza for dinner - I’m hoping that doesn’t screw me. Downing some more water!
5.13.2023 - ⬆️ 171.0 😊 The pizza didn’t do as much damage as I had anticipated. My trending weight is 171.4 so I’m happy with this. Today is a rest day for exercising but we are bowling tonight, so that will be a little something.
5.14.2023 -⬆️ 171.2 Need to focus before this gets away from me. Ate some pizza again yesterday, but wasn’t horrible. One thing I learned is to not deprive myself, but instead to eat in moderation. Sometimes I feel like I have my eating disorder in check and other times it seems to win. So far, I feel I am still in control. Trending weight is 171.3 so I’m still in the green. I also need to get back to updating daily and not every other day. It’s been a hectic schedule lately.
5.15.2023 - 170.2 ⬇️ I do believe my plateau is over! 🎉 I was hesitant to think so earlier since I’ve bounced back and forth so much the past 2 months. As aggravating and sometimes discouraging as it is, I need to “trust the process.” No gym over the weekend, but did a lot of cleaning around the house and moving around furniture. Tonight is back to the gym for some strength & cardio.
5.16.2023 - ⬇️ 169.8 🎉🎉🎉 YAY!!!! I finally hit my 80 lbs lost!!! WooooHoooo!! Next goal is 90!
5.17.2023 - ⬆️ 170.8 I’m good with it. My moving average is 170.4. Had an awesome workout last night and I’m able to run longer without getting winded. 😊
Tonight at the gym my knee was giving me problems so I ended up walking. I switched my strength exercises bc my knee just didn’t have it in it. So not much on exercise tonight. And office lunch was Mexican. I drank a ton of water so we will see how it plays out when I weigh in the AM.
5.18.2023 - ⬆️ 171.8 expected this, so I’m good. I should’ve behaved yesterday but no regrets 😊 I worked remote today, so I was able to do a little strength training at home. Got some good cardio in at the gym tonight. I was much better with my food choices today. I’m sure tomorrow will go back down.
5.19.2023 - ⬇️ 169.0 down more than I expected. My moving average is 170.1 so close. Cardio only at the gym tonight - I was feeling sluggish. Sat & Sun are “rest” days - from the gym anyways. I’m picking up my 2 yr old grandson for the weekend! I can’t wait to see him! I’m so happy that my weight stall is over. 19 lbs to go to my final goal!10 -

We are all entitled to a down in the dumps post here and there. I had mine a few weeks ago. This group helps me tremendously - having others with the same goals and who understand the frustrations. Have a great weekend as well!

Looking forward to another round. My goal this round is to log everything and to avoid snacking after dinner. I’m roughly back to where I was before my trip so now I want to focus on continuing towards my goal.

65 yr young F, 5ft 4 Round 223 (my 154th). As always, thank you. @QuiltingJaine you are a star!
Aim to stay under 140 and hopefully lose another pound. Need to stay on track. After all I am what I eat in more ways than one, my whole demeanour is totally different when I am happy with myself!!Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

5/12 DNW or post
5/13 142.4 – after 12 binge free days, went totally off the rails for 2 ☹. Didn’t even do my walking ☹, missed logging yesterday, was even tempted to not weigh or post this morning, but have to get back on the wagon as I don’t want to face the consequence, so I’m back & I’ll try again.
5/14 142 – 11.89 miles walked, 2/3 exercise calories eaten back, feels better to be back on track, but looking forward to the bloating subsiding.
5/15 142 – no structured walking, met up with DD, DS & their families for a picnic at Calke Abbey, ran around with the little munchkins a bit, we all had a wonderful time, did indulge in an ice cream & a latte, maybe should have gave the red wine with our evening meal a miss, but no binge!
5/16 141 – 9.92 miles walked, a third of exercise calories eaten back.
4 binge free days – 3 days within exercise calories, consistency rules!
5/17 140.2 – 9.84 miles walked, less than 10% exercise calories eaten back.
5/18 140.2 – 9.8 miles walked, just over 10% exercise calories eaten back.
5/19. 140.2 - no structured walking, but did manage to track up 4.5 miles chasing after little DGC! Calories over, but I did choose a coffee over I've cream when I spilled the little munchkins, NSV!
5/20. 140 - 7.98 miles walked, just under 90% exercise calories eaten back.

5/19-165-I finally made it back; it took a while to find the link-I had been gone so long. My life has been crazy busy, so busy that I don’t have time to walk. I’ve been cutting down on activities that take me away from other things I need to do. It’s wonderful to be here. Thank you @quiltingjaine ! Karen

You can do this Sheila, it's amazing what a walk in the fresh air can do for you! Very intuitive of you to use your negative feelings to help come up with a plan, I'm urging you on for success 👍🤞4 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
