Lessons Learned for maintenance: 1) exercise at least 30 minutes five {5} days a week 2) try to walk no less than 10,000 steps a day 3) If/when my weight creeps up (118.1-119 LBS) increase the incline on the treadmill and add a burst of running to routine 4) eat a low-calorie salad before eating dinner 5) limit fried, breaded, and salty food 6) continue to add ice cubes to my daily 5 oz glass of wine 7) eat fish for dinner at least 2 times a week 8) eight to nine hours of sleep a night 9) Of the 64oz of water daily-drink 8oz of water a half hour before each meal 10) three (3) meals a day and 1-2 small snacks, nothing after dinner. 11) take my thyroid pill on an empty stomach an hour before drinking coffee and 4 hours before other pills 12) Average out the weight for the week so as to have a running record of the “Average weight recorded” for every month.

Good Morning
My whyI am playing a game with myself & setting little daily goals of losing 0.35lbs per day and using those goals to help me stay motivated and on track is a way of fasting that I saw in another group. Using my bathroom scale as a weight loss tool works for me. There are days that my weight increases by 2 pounds or more, and I understand that this is mainly water weight, and can go away as quickly as it came. That is why there are times that my daily goal and my weight that day are pounds apart. I am not expecting to lose 2 pounds of body fat by the next day. But it is possible to lose 2 pounds of water weight by the next day, so I stick to my goals. If it takes longer than one day to lose that water weight, I extend my fast for another day. Sticking to my plan, I will reach my 1st goal weight of 172 pounds on September 16 2023. This will put me in the overweight weight range which I have not seen since 2007. At that point I will decrease the daily amount to 0.2lbs per day to get to my ultimate goal of 140 by my birthday in February. I also have a cruise booked for my birthday & one of the tours offers a mini photoshoot. What a great opportunity to be at my goal & get semi professional pictures on the beach!
I did an extended fast on April 9th that lasted almost 9 days. That got me back on track after Easter.

Not quite sure why I popped back up. Probably just normal body fluctuations or maybe because I snacked on yogurt a little late yesterday. I probably shouldn’t have had that snack but I couldn’t seem to stop myself. I will fast most of the day today & have supper when I get home. I will concentrate on drinking water as well because I have hardly been drinking any this week. I look forward to meal prepping this weekend so that I do not have to think about meals next week when I am busy at work.

Well, this is a little frustrating. I had a bowl of cereal last night & for some reason TMI is becoming a problem. I know that my calories are low so this just has to be my body being stubborn & it will pop right back down. I guess I will be fasting next week because I am not comfortable being 2lbs off my target. I feel on track when I am within 1lb so just just eating low calories or one meal a day is fine but over 2 lbs is a slippery slope. I am working full time, not sleeping enough & certainly not drinking enough water. I plan to cook ahead today. A yummy chicken Thai stir fry with cauliflower rice & a Philly cheesesteak skillet & some taco meat for taco salads. If I decide not to fast I will have quick portions to eat. I guess I may freeze them if I do end up fasting.

This was my weight after hot yoga, not my morning weight but it was me on the scale so I will count it. I may pop up tomorrow but I am prepared because I am probably going to fast most of the week anyway. I am still behind no matter what. Yesterday was a planned treat day for me. It is funny but I realize that I am pretty sure I ate like that (& probably more) most days especially during the summer & wondered why I gained weight. I could have & probably should have skipped the ice cream for dessert but it filled a craving & I can go for at least a month without indulging. I sure did have a good sleep last night though! I will be fasting most of the day today.

I was so sick yesterday. I should probably track this based on food or supplements. It is very embarrassing to throw up as the owner of a store. Hopefully I can figure out what it is so it never happens again. Or it is a flu & I may have potentially gotten all my staff sick during our busiest time of the year 🤦♀️ Feeling ok this morning. I got a very solid, not even one wake up 7 hours of sleep. Obviously I am far from my goal & will attempt fasting, but as always health comes first. No matter what I will be bringing Miso soup with me to work.

I have been busy at work. Trying to figure out a balance. I cooked ahead on Wednesday which took so much stress away. I made enough for 5-6 days & will do it again on Monday. For some reason my family doesn’t like to eat cooked ahead meals. They will eat it the day I cook it but no leftovers. Too bad for them! I enjoy just grabbing food that is precooked. No muss, no fuss & even better no mess to clean up. I am behind on my goal but the only way to catch up is to fast. I can’t see that happening until late June/July but I will make an effort to eat small healthy meals & see what my body does.

I reset my goal to where I was yesterday to give myself some mental grace. I am being consistent, weighing daily but there have been some events, both happy & emotionally draining that I have learned from. I decided that I make the rules to my game so rather than not play anymore I will allow a tiny reset. I have lost over 16lbs in less than 2 months & I am happy with that. Have I been perfect? Nope, but there’s always next round. I only lost 0.9 this round. I will have to step it up next round. I am famished this morning so I suspect a whoosh is coming!

My name is Paula and I am a 46 year old 100% service disabled veteran from the Army.
Here I go for my fourth round! I signed up for a variety of challenges to help change my mindset about healthy habits and getting my weight under control as well as motivate and push me through some emotionally and mentally tough times! I know God has a plan for me, but what in the heck is it because I feel like I’m out here flappin’ in the wind! Jk. But, seriously, Jesus, take the wheel because I have no sense of direction & I got lost! I want a better quality of life where I don’t have to ask my husband why he has to pick fights with me all the time…it’s like daily now here recently…I don’t engage though anymore…I just pray he stops before I just…I don’t even know! 🫨😵😵💫🥴😮💨🤭. We always say we will keep trying and not get divorced, but I also don’t want to be in solitary confinement after a prison yard fight at the nearest prison for killing m husband after my prison boo just finished my corn rows….just saying…I don’t look good in corn rows….🤫
I also use Noom, GOLO, and intermittent fasting (IF) using a 16:8 (fasting hours:eating hours) schedule to help affect the change with my weight. I have also DRASTICALLY overhauled my eating habits and what I eat to a more clean way of eating…except for my sporadic emotional eating binge of Reese’s peanut butter cups that I at least have the dignity to still track. I have no shame.

5/16 - 235.0 lbs (LOWEST WEIGHT I HAVE BEEN IN ABOUT 5+ YEARS) 🫡🤭😎🥰. I am working to get myself back on track and not let my emotional and mental state hinder me, but use my efforts to lose weight to support my mental & emotional state. It is the one thing I can control in my life & damnit I’m taking the reigns! I have been working out more though at home doing some grueling circuit training to work through some aggression and use that energy in a positive, body transforming way. I’ve added some new supplements to my repertoire and time will tell if they are effective. I did extensive research on science backed research study results to see which ones showed marked improvements in studies that seemed to be setup in a fairly solid way.
5/17 - 235.0 lbs Worked out yesterday after doing a fairly grueling workout the day prior because I just can’t help myself. It really didn’t work out as planned and I ended up cutting some of the sets I planned on doing because I quickly realized that, yup, a rest day would have been better advised. I ate late compared to usual due to social cues from my husband accompanying us getting along and experiencing joy from each other’s company versus his initiating arguments as he had been doing for the past week —which was just exhausting. We’ve been having some fairly deep conversations and I feel like we are reconnecting. I am hopeful! 🥰😅
5/18 - 235.8 lbs 🥲😏😨 Here we go with the creep. I am coming to understand my weight loss trend and I am starting to not get so alarmed when it occurs. It was very off-putting at first because it was like what.the.BLEEP is happening!?! I have/had to stop feeling defeated when it occurs and then I would emotionally eat like screw it 😑 I am already screwed I might as well seal the deal and make it real! I know that just made it worse, but I stopped beating myself up about it and actually DIDN’T emotionally eat this time! I have been so busy otherwise preparing to move our family out of this extended stay hotel we have been at for YEARS then finally got on a waitlist for a 3 bedroom/2 bath apartment we found suitable that would allow us to stay in the area that we have grown to love and though our youngest son will be going to a different middle school starting over since his friends from his elementary school are going to a different middle school our oldest gets to remain at the same high school and keep all his friends. He is on the football team there and he says it’s the best school experience he’s had so far so we are glad that isn’t changing! I am recovering from some brutal back-to-back workouts I’ve been doing this week.
5/19 - 236.4 lbs 🫣🫢🤔🤭🫠. So it is still creeping, but I’m not going to let it panic me. What helped me is really examining my weight loss line graph and reviewing the trend of going up and down in like a set # of days to hit a low, then increase for a set number of days, then a dramatic drop taking the graph lower than it’s been then back up for a set of days, repeat, etc. I yet again just stuck straight to my healthy choices, avoided the emotional downward tumble in a bag or two of Reese’s to “comfort” and feel pity for myself, and kept it moving. Spent that energy focusing on making sure things were straight with our move, getting our change of address done, planning out the furnishing and decorating of the rooms, scouring my beloved free stuff sites and apps trying to see what treasures I can Re-purpose from someone else’s trash and expressing gratitude for such an opportunity to get myself right on that path to homeownership after MULTIPLE tumbles now that I realize I will not be blessed with that opportunity until I keep developing myself into that role so I can successfully use my VA Certificate of Eligibility to put my family and I FINALLY in our forever home that we can remain in because we have a healthy relationship and no longer treat it like it’s the devil and can actually hold on to it instead of fearing it’s presence as an malevolent spirit meant to seduce me from God. Plus I am diagnosed as Bipolar so that just adds more opportunities for me to work on creatively to not fall into the trap that Bipolar folks can tend to have with spending and such! I have been spending a lot of growing amounts of time developing my relationship with God instead of calling for his divine guidance and assistance when in dire need leaving me recently feeling guilty because He always answers my prayers when I call on Him, then lose His number almost unintentionally once things return to “normal”. I have experienced a lot more of an improved and fulfilling existence being intentionally devoted as best as I can (knowing it will only get better the more committed I remain) to improving this relationship. I’ve seen it carry over into even my weight loss over time because I feel more worthy deep down —which seems to almost by default restrain me with stronger will power from engaging in unhealthy eating & fitness habits so that I am more motivated to do the right things for the intention of rediscovering my healthier self who wants to live & do so in the best version of herself who constantly develops & grows! I am grateful for this & y’all!!!
5/20 - 235.8 lbs And here we go on the downturn of my weight spike! Maybe I am getting a handle on how my weight trends and I acknowledge myself for maintaining making healthy choices for the most part and not totally succumbing to emotional eating. I resisted attempts from social input to break my fast and bc I ate so late last night that meant I had to adjust my fasting schedule to accommodate that shift and to get my fasting start time back on schedule I plan on eating 2 meals today during my eating window and end that window to start my fast back on schedule! 😮💨

05/21 -196.4- (Trend weight 195.0) Ugh. Dinner was nice though. This was not a good round for me. Many challenges including an emergency room visit and illness, my birthday week and Mother's Day celebrations. But my main problem was depression and just simply not putting the work in. It doesn’t happen all by itself. I’ve got to pull myself together. See you next round.

Aim to stay under 140 and hopefully lose another pound. Need to stay on track. After all I am what I eat in more ways than one, my whole demeanour is totally different when I am happy with myself!!Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

5/13 142.4 – after 12 binge free days, went totally off the rails for 2 ☹. Didn’t even do my walking ☹, missed logging yesterday, was even tempted to not weigh or post this morning, but have to get back on the wagon as I don’t want to face the consequence, so I’m back & I’ll try again.
5/14 142 – 11.89 miles walked, 2/3 exercise calories eaten back, feels better to be back on track, but looking forward to the bloating subsiding.
5/15 142 – no structured walking, met up with DD, DS & their families for a picnic at Calke Abbey, ran around with the little munchkins a bit, we all had a wonderful time, did indulge in an ice cream & a latte, maybe should have gave the red wine with our evening meal a miss, but no binge!
5/16 141 – 9.92 miles walked, a third of exercise calories eaten back.
4 binge free days – 3 days within exercise calories, consistency rules!
5/17 140.2 – 9.84 miles walked, less than 10% exercise calories eaten back.
5/18 140.2 – 9.8 miles walked, just over 10% exercise calories eaten back.
5/19 140.2 - no structured walking, but did manage to track up 4.5 miles chasing after little DGC! Calories over, but I did choose a coffee over I've cream when I spilled the little munchkins, NSV!

5/21 140 – 11.04 miles walked yesterday and 24 calories over. This was a round of two halves! The first few days I was horrendous, but at least I managed to almost pull it back to the end of last rounds start weight.

REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

I am about 12 kg along the way to lose 32 kg. I use multiple tape measurements (cm) around my body because they aren't affected by salt intake. Apparently I've been trying to lose weight since September 2012, the last time I was at goal weight. Let's see if stopping eating sugary food is going to change things.

5/19-165-I finally made it back; it took a while to find the link-I had been gone so long. My life has been crazy busy, so busy that I don’t have time to walk. I’ve been cutting down on activities that take me away from other things I need to do. It’s wonderful to be here. Thank you @quiltingjaine ! Karen
5/20-162-Yesterday, I started out counting my calories and tracking my food finally; that was an awakening. Heading to my neic’s graduation /birthday party..
5/21-164–I’ll take that after 5 hours in the car and sitting at a party all day. Horse, quilting and chopping weeds today.
5/22-163-Whwe! Happy to end there. I’ve had a few minor wins….didn’t buy Ho Ho’s to eat on the way home from the grocery store and did not buy an awesome corn dog at my favorite gas station.2 -

5.12.2023 - ⬇️ 170.6 😳 Nice! I drank tons of h20 so hopefully that did the trick! My lowest weight to date since I started in Feb ‘22! YAY! 🎉 strength & cardio at the gym tonight. I also sat in the sauna for about 10 minutes. I did eat 2 squares of pizza for dinner - I’m hoping that doesn’t screw me. Downing some more water!
5.13.2023 - ⬆️ 171.0 😊 The pizza didn’t do as much damage as I had anticipated. My trending weight is 171.4 so I’m happy with this. Today is a rest day for exercising but we are bowling tonight, so that will be a little something.
5.14.2023 -⬆️ 171.2 Need to focus before this gets away from me. Ate some pizza again yesterday, but wasn’t horrible. One thing I learned is to not deprive myself, but instead to eat in moderation. Sometimes I feel like I have my eating disorder in check and other times it seems to win. So far, I feel I am still in control. Trending weight is 171.3 so I’m still in the green. I also need to get back to updating daily and not every other day. It’s been a hectic schedule lately.
5.15.2023 - 170.2 ⬇️ I do believe my plateau is over! 🎉 I was hesitant to think so earlier since I’ve bounced back and forth so much the past 2 months. As aggravating and sometimes discouraging as it is, I need to “trust the process.” No gym over the weekend, but did a lot of cleaning around the house and moving around furniture. Tonight is back to the gym for some strength & cardio.

5.17.2023 - ⬆️ 170.8 I’m good with it. My moving average is 170.4. Had an awesome workout last night and I’m able to run longer without getting winded. 😊
Tonight at the gym my knee was giving me problems so I ended up walking. I switched my strength exercises bc my knee just didn’t have it in it. So not much on exercise tonight. And office lunch was Mexican. I drank a ton of water so we will see how it plays out when I weigh in the AM.
5.18.2023 - ⬆️ 171.8 expected this, so I’m good. I should’ve behaved yesterday but no regrets 😊 I worked remote today, so I was able to do a little strength training at home. Got some good cardio in at the gym tonight. I was much better with my food choices today. I’m sure tomorrow will go back down.
5.19.2023 - ⬇️ 169.0 down more than I expected. My moving average is 170.1 so close. Cardio only at the gym tonight - I was feeling sluggish. Sat & Sun are “rest” days - from the gym anyways. I’m picking up my 2 yr old grandson for the weekend! I can’t wait to see him! I’m so happy that my weight stall is over. 19 lbs to go to my final goal!

5/12 146.2 (trend 146.6) I had a bit of a weight spike over night, probably just water weight from carby snacks last night as I went a bit crazy with bread sticks and veggies with dip. I picked up my husband from the airport yesterday evening and was starving hungry after 6 hours in the car, so lost a bit of control. We also went to the pub for a pint and a catch up, so that didn't help! I'm glad to be getting back to my normal routine but also a bit worried about the extra temptation that spending time with someone who is a foody and eats whatever he wants, brings. I already had to talk him out of a takeaway last night! Fitted in a 4.5 walk in the morning, but no gym.

5/13 146.0 (trend 146.6) Snacking in the evening is getting out of control, I need to find a way to manage things better. Totm is due soon and I can feel today is going to be shaded by pmt, I'm feeling grumpy, tired, and emotional. Did 1hr lower body weights but didn't find time for walking. We went to see a circus last night, it's a Ukrainian troop that's touring the country, called Circus Cortex. If you're in the UK and get the chance to see them, do!

5/14 146.6 (trend 146.6) I haven't had much discipline so far this weekend, and it shows. Yesterday I was feeling really off, hormones I think. It's been so cold and wet in the UK this month, so I think there's a bit of nationwide gloominess going on, too. Anyway I was feeling rubbish so gave myself permission to have a really lazy day, hence the shockingly low step count. I didn't eat much during the day, then in the evening I made lamb kofta kebabs with garlic yoghurt, pita and salad. I had seconds, which I think is why I've got a gain today, 2 pita breads. This morning the sun is trying to shine, so I'm going to shower and get out for a walk before it changes it's mind!

5/16 146.8 (trend 146.6) 4 mile walk in the morning and 1hr lower body at gym. I was below my calorie goal and got more protein so I'm not sure why the gain today. It could just be because totm is due today and I'm a bit backed up and swollen. I'm going to have a consultation this morning with a dermatologist as my skin has changed quite dramatically in the last few years with wrinkles, dryness, rosacea, and sensitivity so I need some advice on how to take care of it. I've never done anything like this before and I'm a bit nervous of having my face looked at so closely and my lifestyle scrutinised, yikes, I'm very self conscious!

5/17 146.6 (trend 146.6) I totally blew my calorie goal yesterday and ate around 1700. I think I was just feeling frustrated at finding it so difficult to recover from my workouts on a calorie deficit, and was feeling tired and achy, so just caved in. Totm is a few days late, same as last month. I'm suspecting this is the start of perimenopause, boohoo. I went for a consultation at a beauty therapy place yesterday and have decided to have a few procedures. An under eye vitamin treatment, botox to my frown lines, and laser treatment to the broken capillaries around my nose. It's not something I ever thought I'd do, and it feels a bit vain and ridiculous to even consider it, but it's things that have been getting me down for a long while and they're not getting any better on their own. 1.5hrs upper body and 6 miles walked total.

5/18 147.0 (trend 146.6) I ate at around maintenance yesterday, due to having a few beers in the evening, but not enough actual food. I've really got to get a handle on this, I'm starting to worry that I'll be back in the 150s before I know it. We booked flights for 10 days in Portugal at the end of June so I've got a month to really focus on getting into better shape so that I can feel more confident in shorts and beachwear. Still no totm, which is messing with my head a bit now. No structured exercise yesterday, just a walk into town for an appointment and later a walk to the shop for groceries.

5/19 146.6 (trend 146.6) I feel like I'm stuck in stasis at the moment, no movement on the scale and still no totm. It makes sense that I'm not losing as I have gone over my calorie goal more often than not this round, but it's also showing me that, even with regular exercise, my maintenance calories are already depressingly low at a weight that is 20lbs over where I'd like to be. No gym yesterday, I met up with my mum and went for a walk in the woods.

Went to the gym in the morning for a lower body workout, then went to the beauty clinic and got my face prodded with needles so I looked a bit too freaky to go for a walk later on, hence the low step count.

5/21 145.0 (trend 146.2) I am very lucky to have ended this round with a loss, I didn't put much effort in so was expecting to maintain. I think I must have just released some retained water, but I'm really happy to have made progress on the scale. Didn't wear my watch for half the day and didn't do any exercise, so I didn't clock many steps.
