TV show recommendations?

Hey all -
The subject pretty much sums it up - I'm looking for suggestions for new (to me) TV shows to watch. I have an in-home elliptical which is my primary form of cardio at the moment, and I prefer watching TV over listening to music when I use it, especially since I don't have an ipod. I've been backsliding a bit for the past month or so due to a pulled muscle and a heavy work and class load, but now I'm healed and looking forward to getting back on the weight loss train, and I think something new to watch would help.
I just finished watching the most recent season of Psych, and now I'm at a loss as to what to entertain myself with next. My preferred genres are sci-fi and mystery, and I usually fancy a show that doesn't take itself too seriously - humor is a plus. Some of my preferred shows are Doctor Who, Castle, Firefly, Twin Peaks, Spaced and Eureka, plus have seen most X-Files, Star Trek, Futurama, Modern Family, Arrested Development, Scrubs and Buffy. I tried Supernatural, but couldn't get into it. I've been thinking about maybe Battlestar Galactica (new, not classic), Walking Dead, or League of Gentlemen.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Wow you watch like half of the shows I was gonna reccommend. Psych and Doctor who are great because they arent really continuing stories, so much as short episodes that have an overall theme.
The walking dead is AWESOME, and so is true blood. Id recommend both of those. Another big one is Dexter and King of Thornes. Havent seen either, heard they are great though0 -
Came here to recommend Walking Dead but you're already on it!
I agree with the other poster, Dexter is a really good series if you haven't checked it out yet. Amazing!0 -
Thanks, sounds like I will have to check out Dexter again! I did watch the first season when it originally aired, but then I got distracted and forgot about it...0

Battlestar Gallactica, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Farscape0

If you have HBO, I like Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones.
Mad Men is awesome.
Other than that, I'm Top Chef and game show junkie.0 -

I don't recommend playing a drinking game every time Deb says "f**k". You'll get drunk super fast in only the few scenes she's in each episode :laugh:0 -

Boardwalk Empire is awesome (new season starts tomorrow night) and I agree about The Walking Dead, True Blood & Dexter- freaking fab. Terra Nova starts on Fox Monday night. I'm going to give it a go. Ever watch Angel? If you liked Buffy, you might like it.0
