I got together with some rarely seen relatives this weekend, covering 4 generations. It was interesting to see the body shapes, sizes and ailments ... two of us (aunt and niece) with a 12 year age spread.. have the same hobbled gait.. hip problems. suddenly I saw my future.. and I'm not happy about it. So today, I am buckling down and figuring out this healthy eating/living thing.. I want to continue doing physical activity well into my 80's. Reality just bit me.

You have just gained a deep insight. Look at your parents as a good predictor of the future.
You are correct though, with really insight and effort we can do it differently, and cultivate a different outcome for ourselves.1 -
thanks Chris! Today I jumped on the scales (habit).. and have lost 7pounds over the last two months.. I haven't really been focusing so much on the scale or diet.. just eating right.. which makes me feel good.. which makes me more active!! so the weight is starting to move. I haven't been strict.. just asking myself.. would a healthy, (fit, slim.. whatever) person eat this, do this, etc... If the answer is No.. well, why am I doing it.. this is working for me. ! I'm elated!
have a wonderful day.

It's just odd to me how so many people when young will do whatever it takes to be successful when it comes to finances, family, etc. but when it comes to ensuring a better healthy life, there's no time, it's too difficult, etc.
So I see so many clients past the age of 45 who deal with joint issues, onset diabetes, muscle weakness and so on now realizing that they need to take better care or they may not live out their lives to it's fullest.
It's good you're getting into now. But I would encourage you to pass that onto your own young relatives NOW. Or they'll one day be in the same position as you were.
