I am looking so sluggish and run down in the face. I am really seeing my age come out and my eye circles look so dark.
I also have to muster up energy day in and day out.

What vitamins should I take. I am desperate!!! haha

Thanks in advance!

    Any Multi-Vit/Multi Mineral is good.

Good nutrition and exercise are also helpful.

I take Whole Food's 365 Adult Multi as well as a probiotic since weirdly at my age I have problems with thrush. I've done a bit of research and try to stick to the 100% amounts, so many things interfere with each other if you start taking mega amounts of minerals and vitamins.
  • I take a liquid multi as well as a liquid iron supplement. I've heard liquid vitamins are more easily absorbed by the body, and I like these because they are both food based:

    - Floradix - Floravital Iron+Herbs
    - Country Life - Liquid Multi

Prenatal, calcium, folic acid, and omega-3 =]
  • hello,
I took an advanced nutrition class in University and we placed any type of vitamin we wanted into a vinagar that was equivalent to our stomach pH. After three hours some vitamins were still completely whole, and probably moved through the digestive track whole......meaning some vitamins never get broken down. The best you could do is get blood tests done and see what your body isn't gettiing enough of from food. As well, taking vitamins that your body doesn't need is really hard on the kidneys and some such as vit A can be toxic if built up in your system.

I'm taking vitafusion prenatals with DHA and drinking one Advocare SPARK a day.
I was feeling really sluggish and had the circles too.... working out has helped with the addition of the vitamins. The Spark has caffeine, tons of vitamins as well as thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12 and pantothenic acid, taurine, L-tyrosine, choline, caffeine, GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), citrus flavonoids, and inositol. Advocare's website tells you what all of these things do for your body... I have really been feeling a ton better since I started using the supplements constantly with working out.

    info for Spark:

  • and I forgot to add, dark circles can be hereditary.....but try avoiding salt at night it may help water from holding in your face...

You should go get your blood drawn and tested. I woudln't recommend guessing at what is going to give you energy.

If you have insurance, you should have 1 health check up included.. sometimes it is called "maintenance....something".. but anyway..

I have my blood drawn every year to check all of my vitamins. Because you have no energy, I would specifically ask for your doctor to include your Iron levels. But B12 and calcium are also important.

For a vitamin, I am suppose to take Chewable Fusion Bariatric multi-vitamin 4x a day and an iron pill every couple of days. If you do take iron pills, beware, you may not go to the bathroom for days....
  • B50 Complex (Costco)
Apple cider vinegar after hard to digest meals.
    Probiotic capsules
    Vit C/D
Magnesium citrate for when my IBS-C is acting up.
    Fish oil capsules

My new fave product for dark circles (I have toddlers... lol) http://www.garnier.ca/_en/_ca/articles/articles-detail.aspx?tpcode=EditContent_SC&tcode=dark_circle LOOOOOVE IT!!!

I second all the "get bloodwork" opinions. That will tell your doc exactly what you need.

My doc said taking a kids vitamin was fine so I do that and it improves my hair and nails. She also recommended Vitamin D, Calcium, and B.

The flintstone multis are quite tasty - and fun shapes too! LOL

I take a Target Up brand women's multi with calcium and iron in it. After several months my iron count is finally out of the anemic range.
  • This is interesting info. I am about to a blood test done on Monday that I will have to stay there for 3-4 hours (testing for insulin resistance). I might get them to call the doc to approve testing for these levels too.

    Thanks!

  • I take a multivitamin any brand and my doctor says if you are over 40 you need to take calcium aswell so I do any 600mg. Other supplements I take are Dong Quai for menopause symtoms and Primrose oil caps for bloating. Perscribed thyroid meds synthroid. Thats it.

Everything helps if you need something specific do the research on the web go buy it and try it good luck. I think dark circles around the eyes is lack of vitamin E.
