What I learned at work yesterday!

I work @ a pita place, and we get to eat free pitas on shift so I figured that healthy low fat/cal eating would be easy. Well, while filling sauces I decided I would read the nutritional info on them so I could make better choices...I almost died when I found out that my usual Greek vinaigrette dressing has 150cals in 2tbsps!! The other creamy sauces I avoid because I know they are bad, but really, my vinaigrette has to be bad! And who puts 2tpsp of dressing on anything!?! So I'm stuck with the Italian dressing (which I'm sick of and despise) so I can eat better...just wanted to rant, thank you, that is all.

  • Bring a bottle of lighter greek dressing and leave it in the fridge at work? That's what I do, because all of our dressings are crap too, except for raspberry vinagrette which I despise.
  • That's a good idea or look for a recipe or a healthier alternative sometimes if you just change up the recipe a bit you can lower calories. Try standing in the salad dressing aisle at the grocery store pick up three bottles of the same dressing but different brands you will be amazed at the difference. Then just take what you make or buy to work as "theworldatlarge" suggested,

Don't forget the calories is not your only enemy, some dressings can be very high in sodium!
