Hello! I have been using this website and the mobile app for a while now, but have not been serious about it as of yet. After turning 30, it seems like anything I eat adds weight to my body. I have 40 lbs to lose (again!) and I would like to accomplish this by next spring. I think what I need most is support and that is why I finally posted this message. I get really embarrassed about talking weight loss and exercise with friends and family. Few people even know that I have a gym membership. I feel like if I tell them that I am trying, then they will expect to see results and that adds pressure to me that I don't need.
I have been going to the gym about once or twice a week and one of those days I work with a trainer. It is well worth the $$ because since I started doing that, the weight gain has stopped and I haven't gained anything for about 4 months. I think I am ready to start losing and make the changes to my life that I need to make to accomplish my goals. I have lost the weight before and I love to exercise. I work full time and go to school and am a single mom to two children. All of this makes it hard to fit in time for me to work out.
I think one thing really holding me back from eating healthy is the expense of healthy food. I need to get better about meal planning so the food I buy does not go bad and get thrown away. My kids hate meat and they like very few veggies, so that makes it hard to stay away from pasta.
I would appreciate any helpful tips, or any new friends to help with support!

HI SARA, I am also new to the message boards and to this site to help me get SERIOUS about my weight loss. I also am looking to lose 40 #. I was introduced to this site by my 27 yr. old daughter. She successfully lost around 40# through weight watchers and using online tools like this. I am 55 yrs. old and have been overweight since my last of 3 children was born. Actually, I was at 115 after my first two were born and got back to about 125 with my third child. They were all 2 years apart - yes 3 kids in 4 years! Many years of terrible eating habits (skipping breakfast and eating large portion sizes) got me to here! It's really strange because I never think about my weight on an ongoing basis. Usually, it's when we go to big events like weddings, holidays, etc. that I feel way overweight My daughter turned us on to a really great website for recipes called skinnytaste.com.
I can't believe how busy you must be after reading your activities. A few suggestions I would have for you, not knowing the ages of your children, but it might help to go online with them and have them help pick out some recipes as this sight has great pictures. It will also create a shopping list. Makes it pretty easy! Plan a menu for the week based on those recipes and have those ingredients on hand so it's less tempting to turn to junk foods. Lead your kids by example and get them involved. Kids will do what we moms do. Find activities to work into your time with the kids that include movement and exercise. Have a dance party in your living room! Most important is to get enough sleep! And water! Good luck to you and I ook forward to seeing your progress toward your goal!

Thank you for the websit tip! I will check that out. I did plan meals for the week and let my boys know what they were. When we got to chicken night, they made nasty faces, but I told them that they had to give me at least one night a week to cook chicken. They agreed, but it wasn't their choice anyway. I just let them think it was.
Thanks again!
