Welcome! I am not a single parent, or even a parent. But you can find support here, there are many who are like you.

Yep, I am with you. I am alright with the diet part, as we all eat well. But fitting in my workout can be interesting. I have a nearly 2 year old who insists on restarting the wii or taking out the dvd while I am doing it lol. I am fine at the weekends as they go to their dads, but during the week I am struggling more and more. He has a nap, but I am ill also, so also need that nap. There are ways around things, depends on the age of the kids really. How old are they?

Yep! I have been a single parent for a long time. I have always struggled with my weight and a good part of that I can relate to single parent issues like lack of time, money, etc.
You take care of your kids and you also have to find time to take care of you. If you don't take care of you who will?

Yes I have been guilty of finishing my kids food for them. Just remember though that whether you throw leftovers away or eat them when you didn't really need them, it is still wasting food.

Take care and good luck to you!

I'm not a single mom, but my husband works 6 days a week and is in the military on top of that so not home much. I do in home daycare and I had to clean out my pantry and put healthy foods in it for everyone because I was eating the junk food I bought for the kids. I have a little scale that helps me a ton. I can weigh the meat ounces, my favorite veggie chips, and so on. That is definitely my life saver cuz it only takes a minute to weigh anything (healthy or not) and log it into mfp and move on. Good luck

Oh yeah, as far as the workout I currently do the 30DS while the kids nap and I try to get in 2-3 runs a wk in which I take my kids since I have a double jogging stroller (after daycare kids leave.)

I've been a single mom for going on 2 years, and I have to say that if I can't get a workout in while they're at school...I'm probably not going to.

Since I was a working mom until lay off in May, that was...never. Over the summer, home with them, I gained 10lbs. We did active things, but you can only go as fast as your youngest child, right?

Since they went back to school I have been exercising, and I go back to school myself in a couple of weeks...I should still be able to squeeze it in if I time it right.

However, once I'm working again, I am afraid I don't have any idea how to make it work. :( I cannot see putting them in daycare another hour or more after they've been in school/daycare already...I just cannot do that to them.

I'm envious of my friends that go for a power walk after supper or hit the gym at 9pm, since that's impossible for me to do.

I'm okay with food, because I'm mean and haven't bought much junk food in a long time anyway. lol

I'm not very good at doing home workouts, honestly...I prefer my cardio activities. Financially, things are REALLY bad at the moment...really bad. I can't buy a bunch of DVD's or a machine.

I, personally, would love any suggestions people might have!
