For me I generally listen to hard rock because it gets my blood flowing. What do you listen to and what do you recommend?

I don't wear headphones when I work out so in my gym it's whatever's on Pandora station. We switch it up regularly, but weekend mornings when I'm pretty much in charge............ old school
funk.

I listen to Trance. Mainly Andrew Rayel's "Find Your Harmony" podcast. It's so amazing. Makes my long runs fly by1

Oldies because I'm old. I like a good beat.2

Depeche Mode remixes usually. There are a couple of fantastic Youtube channels for those.
While doing the squats specifically, usually something heavier. A current favorite is the NY band Mindforce. This album here is 17 mins, which is ideal to kick off when the warm ups are done.

Birds, wind, water, . . . plus some less-welcome automobile traffic, lawn mowers, and that sort of thing.
With indoor workouts, usually NPR news-ish radio/streaming or podcasts, sometimes music (varied but more Americana than anything else).2 -

On this one, I Want It All is the best DM remix I've ever heard. Their 10 minute Little 15 is fantastic too.

This video here was originally on the TBBM channel, and it's now here. Not much else in this channel of note, but YMMV.

Metal usually or 90s trance if want a change. I was recently told my metal taste was “dad music” which cracked me up (Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Linkin Park) 🤣3
-
Metal- Rammstein, iron maiden, korn, five finger death punch, system of a down etc. Anything to get me in that head space to lift heavy0
-
Usually edm or hip hop mixes1
-
90's music.
(What can I say: I'm Gen X.)1 -
When I'm just cruising down the road, I prefer country on the car stereo.
When I'm fixing food in the kitchen, I play 90's rock on the Alexa.
But when I'm getting my lifting on, my phone earbuds play a steady diet of heavy metal, with the occasional rock song thrown in if it has a good enough beat to it.1 -
I recently discovered Leo, who does metal versions of you name it. I have the free Amazon music, so will ask it for this, and get this plus a mix of "similar songs" which can be quite entertaining.

Previously my preferred gym playlist was Black and Blue - Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult. And Metallica.1 -
Rock, metal, euro symphonic rock, hip-hop if its got a fast beat.
I like pretty much all genre's of music, but classical just doesn't give me the umph for workouts.
About the only music I don't do is gangsta rap.0 -
My body. I don't need music for exercising, and it might throw me out of the rhythm anyway.1

@ninerbuff, at one point I was good with this, but my gym fancies itself a "wellness spa" which caters to everybody, including those getting relaxing massages. Sometimes this means playing Guns 'n Roses. But do you know how hard it is to get psyched up for a heavy deadlift when the overhead speaker is playing a Celine Dion love song? lol2 -

Foo Fighters, Ramones, Gorillaz, Chris Cornell(solo and all band incarnations), Tron Legacy Reconfigured, Tom Petty, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Die Antwood0
-
Anything with a high tempo, and I listen to all types of music from country, pop, punk, rock, metal, etc. If I listen to music, sometimes I just read on my kindle.0

I just wanted to say thank you for mentioning this! I listened to it on Friday on the treadmill and it was great! Will be listening again today on the elliptical.
Saturday and Sunday mornings I walk outside and only listen to the beautiful sounds of nature.0
