So the BMR tool said I was at 1,566, so don't I need a 500 deficit to lose 1 pound per week? Then if I add another 500 from exercise, wouldn't that add up to 2 pounds a week total? Also this website gave me the number or 1566, but all others are telling me closer to 2000. Any suggestions?

BMR is how many cals yo'd burn if you laid int bed all day, you need to multiply it by an activity factor to get maintenance, which is what you create a deficit from

I'm new to all this. I am wanting to lose at least 2 pounds per week, I am confused about "calories in/out". I have been eating too little calories and not losing anything. I am looking for something to give me an idea of how much I need to eat/burn a day to lose.

Your basal metabolic rate is the rate you would burn calories by doing nothing. When they test people in order to determine basal metabolic rates, the people stay in bed pretty much all day unless they're eating or going to the bathroom. Even a fairly sedentary person will exceed the basal metabolic rate in a day.

A better way to figure out how much you should try to lose is to click on the "My Home" tab on the top of the screen. Click on "Goals." Click on "Change Goals." Then select the guided update to your fitness goals. It will then give you the option of how much you intend to lose each week.

a 1k deficit to lose 2 lbs a week may not be advisable depending on your ht/wt. i'm guessing if you BMR is 1,566 then it would be better to start with a 20% deficit to your maintenance level

You need to have a deficit of 3500 to lose 1 pound, so 500 a day to lose 1 pound per week.

    Calories Burned
From Normal Daily Activity 1,960 calories/day
    Net Calories Consumed*
Your Daily Goal 1,200 calories/ day
    Daily Calorie Deficit 760 calories
Projected Weight Loss 1.5 lbs/ week
    * Net Calories Consumed = Total Calories Consumed - Exercise Calories Burned

This is what MFP is telling me in my goals. So If I burn an additional 500 calories a day I should lose 2.5 lbs/week....Am I right?

I have been eating only 1000-1200 calories/day and burning an additional 1000-1400 in exercise alone and am not losing. I know I am eating too little for the amount I exercise. I am looking for something more productive and healthier. I am frustrated because I have been working hard and losing nothing.

As you don't have a lot of weight to lose you need to reduce your calorie deficit otherwise your body will start to hold onto calories so aim to have an overall deficit of no more than 1000 calories a day for example you eat 1500 calories, your BMR is 1600 plus you burn another 500 during exercise therefore that's 2100 calories out and only 1500 in giving you a deficit of 600, hope this helps x
