Ive never been the type of person to enjoy a full meal for breakfast, i just cant wake up and eat (*usually*) so i wanted to give the protein shakes a chance... however im not sure which ones I should stay clear of.... at this point in my weight loss im just focusing on losing weight and not building muscle (*not yet at least*). If anyone has any suggestions please lemme know... i check online and i just keep finding websites that promote their own brand and not sure if there is just some sort of generic one i could use or if i have to spend the money on these high end ones...

  • Hello! My favorite protein mix is called Syntha-6 and it comes in a variety of flavors. Check out amazon.com for competitive rates. Chocolate mint and vanilla ice cream are my favorites but that is purely a preference. What I like about it is it is not chalky or grainy and it doesn't taste as "protein shake - ish" as most mixes I've tried. It can also be used to make pudding which provides a nice cook, creamy sensation (like a dessert) but with the protein/carb balance your body needs. Good luck in finding something you like and congrats on your weight loss thus far!
  • I would really reccommend anything by PhD Nutrition, they are by far the best tasting out off all the brands i've tried...and i've tried a lot, for your goals I would reccomend either :
    PhD Diet Whey
    or
    PhD Pharma Whey
Also, PhD Synergy is good, it is more specifically just for men and can promote lean muscle gains too...So perhaps leave this one for now?

You can get all of these really quite cheap on Monstersupplements.com

    Hope this helped :)

I've tried a majority of the top rated ones on bodybuilding.com and the Optimum Nutrition "Gold Standard Whey" is by far my favorite. The flavor is really good. It mixes well even by just shaking it. A lot of protein shakes have a tendency to not mix well unless you use a blender or are really sludgy. Some are even so foamy that it kinda messes with my stomach. Not ON though. It rules and it fairly inexpensive by comparison.
  • I like PureProtein shakes in Frosty Chocolate. There are 3 flavors that I know of - vanilla (have not tried), cookies and cream (yuck IMO), and chocolate. They taste good, no sugar, have no weird aftertaste and come premixed. I can grab a can and go. I find them at most grocery stores or drugstores so convenient, not too expensive (~$7 for a 4-pack) and taste decent. Good luck finding one you like.

$7 for a 4 pack? If that's what you like, more power to you. I can definitely get behind the convenience part, but if you found one that wasn't premixed you could get about 30 servings for roughly $15. Cheaper, the bigger container you get.

I'm using Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey. It's SO DELICIOUS. It's the only one I've tried, but let me tell you, it's great. Tastes just like thick chocolate milk in the Extreme Milk Chocolate flavor. They have something like 20 diff flavors as well, and I like the nutritional breakdown of the product itself. I highly recommend it.

-- It does have artificial sweeteners. But most do, unless they are high sugar or taste like poo.
