I currently have a Pro-Form HRM. It's bare-bones and I'm looking to upgrade. I've seen reviews and read feedback on the Polar brand and it seems to be a good choice. After some research I've decided I like the FT40 model.
Does anyone have this HRM and if so, do you have any pros and cons you can share?

I would offer pros and cons, but so far I've only had it two days and I haven't even worn it to the gym yet! I've been wearing it though! I wore the watch and wearlink 24 hours to see my calorie expenditure and it was fine, no problems there ;)

I like it so far, seems simple enough but the manual it comes with doesn't explain anything except how to set it up. I figured that part out, there isn't anything in it about how to use all the features (I figure I will look it all up online). The only thing for you is, its my first HRM and I really have nothing to compare it to!
  • I have owned it for 5 months and love it. I think it's the best HRM for the money if you're not into cycling. I was torn between this model and the Garmin 305.

    PROS
Great training programs, website(free), tracker, zone training, and it looks good.
Excellent for road running and indoor cardio.

    CONS
Expensive addons (docking station for the computer and footpod.) There is a GPS unit but I do not own that.
The battery goes fast in the footpod.
In extreme rain the HRM doesn't not pick up HR.
The band on the HRM could be too short for some folks. They do make a longer one for more $$$.

SORRY FOR ALL CAPS... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!! no issues, I have wore it swimming too! I want to wear it all day every day. my chest was 42 inches and no slipping, no bad readings, I even tested it out at work with the HR stuff there. Accurate to a T. LOVE it! I do suggest you shop around. I got mine NEW on Ebay for 80 with shipping.

I posted a topic on here and the general view was the FT60 is much better. Its just a better version of the FT40, its going for 100 pounds on ebay, that's the cheapest price I've found. Done a lot of research and I will own one in a week or so. Zara

I have the Polar FT7 and I like mine a lot. Easy to use/set up and I've had no problems with it yet.

Just don't wear it all day as it's not made for that.. It's only made to be worn during exercise.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I can't go wrong regardless of what model I go with. Polar seems to be a popular choice with consumers.
