Getting back to MFP

Good morning! I've used MFP off and on for the last several years with my weight going up and down. I still have about 25 pounds to lose. Recently, I got a bit of a concerning lab result. I'm okay and not formally diagnosed with anything, but the numbers were too close for comfort, so I'm taking charge. I'm not doing anything specific like keto or counting carbs. I'm just limiting my calories and being more active. Reality check!! That was about six weeks ago and I've taken off a couple of pounds. The rest are going to follow!!

How can you limit your calories if you don't know how many you're actually eating? The first day that I ever used MyFitnessPal to count my calories, it was really the first day that I ever knew how many calories per day on average I ate. And it wasn't what I would have guessed..

I think that's the main reason people use MyFitnessPal.

The OP doesn't appear to say she doesn't know how many calories she's eating. But you absolutely can limit calories without counting. If I decide that, today, I'm going to use one spoonful of peanut butter on my toast instead of 2, I've limited calories. If I decide to drink a diet soda instead of full fat, I've limited calories. If I eat 93/7 ground beef instead of 80/20, I've limited calories.

Sollyn2312, I took it as a sort of rhetorical statement that the person was making in support of my going back to MFP. The person is right. You can't know how many calories you eat if you don't track and that's what's so great about MFP :-)
