Blood pressure, meds, and weight loss

I'm on haloperidol injection(100mg)once a month and pill(5mg) daily. Haloperidol can cause low blood pressure. I weigh 249 pounds at 5'8. My blood pressure is 120ish over 70ish. I get my blood pressure taken once a month when I get my injection. My question is this... Since weight loss lowers blood pressure is it possible that mine could drop too low being on haloperidol?

    That seems to be a doctor question?

    I would personally conjecture that weight loss takes time such that medications can be adjusted as appropriate?

    I've also heard of many people who monitor and record their blood pressure at home on a more frequent basis and discuss the results with their doctors during their get togethers!

    The above is true. My husband just got off one of his high blood pressure meds at the doctor. yesterday.
    He's been so tired and here his blood pressure was lower than normal.
    His new doctor advised him to buy a really quality home blood pressure cuff and check his blood pressure on a regular basis to monitor progress. He has a cuff now. but it isn't high quality .. didn' tknow it mattered.
    But he plans on exercising and dieting now.. and i'm sure it will start going down before his next visit. This way they can adjust his meds if needed.. or bring him in to double check.

    It wouldn't hurt for me to buy a blood pressure monitor to keep an eye on it. I used to have to take blood pressure medicine

    Do talk to your doctor.

    My personal anecdote is that my blood pressure ran very low when I was a kid. It was not unusual for me to feel dizzy when I stood up. This problem ceased after I left home and no one scolded me for my salt intake. I eat a lot of salt. Last time I took my BP it was 104/76.

    Yes, talk to your doctor and keep monitoring it. If it does go too low, then for sure you and your doctor would need to talk about next steps. That being said, my nurse practitioner once told me that, as long as your not having symptoms from it, there's no such thing as too low of a blood pressure.

    If blood pressure is normal, weight loss doesnt usually lower it more. There are plenty of thin people on halopeidol with no problems dont worry too much about it. If it becomes an issue, discuss with your doctor.

    The first time I lost weight it lowered my blood pressure, of course I had lost 75 pounds going from 225 to 150.

    I started blood pressure medication about March 1. My self-taken weekly average then was 141/78. It is now 114/68. I have lost about 45 lbs in that time. I would say yes, it's possible that your blood pressure will go down, but not very quickly. If you're going to the Dr's office once a month, you should have plenty of time to address it before it becomes a problem.
