has anyone tried intermittent fasting?

i'm not talking about starving yourself, but i've read a lot about fasting for 16 hours a day then eating for 8 hours of the day (you still eat every day). it's supposed to be like how the cavemen ate, which is supposedly how our bodies are supposed to work. they ate when they found food, they didn't eat when they couldnt find food. we eat nonstop.
just wondering if anyone has success with this... it's supposed to lower blood pressure and have a bunch of other benefits. i'm tempted to try

I, too, have been very curious about this. I naturally end up moving towards eating fewer times per day if I don't have a structured eating schedule (like when I'm at work and want a break, for example). Yet, "they" say that you shouldn't eat one or two meals per day.
I dunno. But, I'm very curious about what people have to say!0 -
to be a little more detailed i busted through a plateau (although there were other potential confounding factors at play), i feel good and i find it more satiating and convenient to eat larger less frequent meals. i've found no differences in training fasted or not0

I've been doing the Fast 5 (fast 19 hours, eat for 5). I LOVE it! I've already lost a couple pounds, and it makes it a lot easier to say no to grazing, which is my biggest nemesis.

Sounds like a big pile of crap to me.
What about those cavemen that lived near large herds of animals and had a steady supply of food. They must have eaten meat all day, perhaps we should try that.
Seriously, just eat less and exercise more, it's boring but it works.0 -
Isn't that basically what people do when eating breakfast/lunch/dinner, then sleeping?

I fast one day a week, generally Tuesday.
I have a normal breakfast and lunch, but nothing but liquids from 1pm until 7 am the next day, for an 18 hr. fast.
So, basically I miss one meal and don't eat back my exercise calories that one day.
I consider this my little insurance in case I have underestimated the calories in a meal or forgotten to log an item or overestimated calories burned during an exercise.
In general, I eat back my exercise calories and don't worry about starvation mode due to one missed meal a week.0 -
thats what i do, i just end up maintaining. i'm just looking for some info from people who have had success with this type of diet plan.0

you can check here too for other people doing IF. i don't think there's any harm in trying it out and seeing if it's for you. if you find it makes your life easier, stick with it. i personally love eating this way

Nope, I haven't. I'm diabetic, but even if I wasn't, I think I'd go crazy if I couldn't eat 6 small meals a day! It sounds interesting though... Best of luck!0
