Any other gluten-free vegans here?

Options
I would love to get in touch with anyone else eating gluten-free and/or vegan, or even anyone just interested in recipes that fit both criteria.

I've been eating gluten-free for about six months but just went back to veganism a few weeks ago. It's a challenge to do both but it IS doable, and I though it would be encouraging to share recipes.

I started a blog to share what I eat everyday and post photos and new recipes regularly. Feel free to visit :)http://EatSimpleEatFresh.blogspot.com

I am not vegan, but do have several recipes that can be easily made vegan... I gave up corn syrup in January and it was the best thing I ever did... and often it means I eat gluten-free too... but not always... many of my recipes are gluten-free though....

It is tough making choices that the rest of the world just doesn't get... but my body loves me for it!!

They'll get used to it eventually and not even mind if you are creative with your cooking and don't act like the vegan police when they want to eat something else. I would say give it a shot anyway! good luck!

It IS difficult, and requires time and planning to make sure you're eating the right foods for proper nutrition, but I urge you to give it a try. I'm also the only one in my family and close friends that is vegan, but as long as you remain positive and encourage your family to try some of your food (and not judgmental of their non-vegan choices) it shouldn't bother anyone :)

I am a wheat free vegetarian, so not quite as extreme on either front as you. It's hard enough!

I started out going gluten-free because I breastfeed and my son is EXTREMELY sensitive to gluten passing into my breast milk. i realized after re-introducing it for a few weeks that I also react negatively to it as well (bloating, lethargic, skin breakouts) so I've cut it out completely

I was vegetarian for 6 years in the past, and vegan for 6 of those months, but started eating meat out of laziness several years ago. A few weeks ago I chose to go back to veganism after watching several documentaries about the significant effect animal protein has on our bodies (such as FoodMatters - http://bit.ly/LZvv3, Forks Over Knives - http://bit.ly/lYeuAf and Food Inc - http://bit.ly/CipMb)

It definitely sounds extreme, and it takes work because we live in such a processed-foods society, but when you think about it, it's the simplest way to eat - all natural produce, nuts, seeds, and legumes! :)
