Nutrition While Traveling

I’m in Las Vegas this week at a convention for work. I’m having a difficult time finding healthy food options and eating on my normal schedule. I’ll be at the gym in Caesar’s Palace each morning when it opens at 6am so I don’t miss my exercise, but this nutrition thing is going to be challenging. How do you all manage your health and nutrition when traveling?

Does your hotel room have a fridge? If not, ask for one. Most hotels will bring one to you free of charge if you ask.
With a fridge, you could find a grocery store and get yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit, etc for breakfast (instead of hitting a casino buffet).
Premade salads with chicken or other protein would be a good lunch to throw into a bag and take along during the day. Even protein bars, nuts, or any other healthy-ish sancks that you like.
At the work conferences I have been to, generally groups of colleagues go out for dinner together. You don't want to miss a good networking opportunity, so I'd save the majority of your calories for the evening. Eat light during the day, so you can enjoy an evening out.
In the end, a few days is not going to derail you, so even if you do over-indulge at the convention, get back into your routine when you return home.4 -
Go to any restaurant and ask them to cook what you want. Most will.1

I have options for breakfast and dinner. Lunch is the issue. The convention center has small food vendors with menus built for speed of service with garbage food. I’m going to carry protein bars and water for lunch.1

Carry: Mozzerella String Cheese, Almonds and a fresh Fruit for your lunch.1

In Vegas, I find it very easy to stay on target by going to the buffets. There's no law that says just because you paid for an all-you-can-eat meal that you have to fill your plate three times with high-calorie, low-nutrition foods, followed by seven different desserts. There are always plenty of plain veggies, clear soups, salad bars, and steamed shrimp, roasted chicken, etc. to be able to construct a healthy meal and controlled portions of whatever indulgences your plan leaves room for.3

The issue with lunch is that I’m stuck at the convention center and leaving would be a nightmare.0
